I wish they were also filling in that surface parking lot to the south with an addition.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 11:27 amYou must be thinking of a different building. 1808 Main had two floors removed sometime after 2011.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 11:27 amYou must be thinking of a different building. Hopefully they don't punch a bunch of windows in the side.FangKC wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 5:46 pmI wish they were also filling in that surface parking lot to the south with an addition.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 11:27 amYou must be thinking of a different building. I was on Google aerial and noticed that Wabash Iron and Metal has cleaned up their lot at 1908 Troost. Did they close down for good?

Noticed some renovation work in this structure behind the Phoenix. I didn't even know it had an actual address, as it always looked like some kind of utility annex for adjacent buildings. But over the last month new window openings were added and now signage has gone up on a new glass door indicating it will be a law office.
So, here you go. 716 Central.

Seriously. I never pictured that it was an underutilized building. With the solid brick facade and the vents, I assumed the inside was occupied by HVAC equipment and maybe a big humming transformer. In any event a law office is a low key activation and better than vacancy. Makes me wonder what other walled-off back rooms are sitting around with bits of potential.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 4:19 pmThanks! According to the last paragraph in this Business Journal article about the FBI campus, 710 Central (old DST building) has sold again. Was purchased by "7C Partners LLC" on December 13 after prior consideration by Guadalupe Centers before they settled on the old FBI facility.

Workers have been active recently at 710 Central, they have a dumpster on 7th that is slowly filling up with old office fixtures. I haven't read anything else about plans for this building however.

Spokes is moving from their 10th and walnut location into a space at 10th and Main that used to be the In and Out convenience store prior to covid.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
is their space at 10th & Walnut getting developed into something else? I work at Commerce and that place is basically the main coffee spot location for us and UMD. The move to 10th & Main should not effect it much, beyond being a little more hidden than the prominent corner space they have now on Walnut

I think there was plans for that building but not sure if that's the reason for the move.
I'd say for Spokes that Main street location with street access will be more prominent and visually on the streetcar line which should add to walk in traffic.
