Yeah, the Twins and Tigers both hold head-to-head tiebreakers over Seattle. The Royals split their season series with the Mariners, so I'm not sure which level of tiebreaker they win it on, but I'm guessing it's the second one (divisional record: getting to play the White Sox a bunch of times most likely pushed the Royals over the top here). If the Twins win out and either the Royals or Tigers get swept, they're still in (if both the Royals and Tigers get swept, I think the Twins get WC2 and Royals get WC3, but not entirely sure).gfisch95 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 2:52 pmThey are out because they lose their tiebreakers against KC, Det, and Min and can only end up with the same record. MIN could tie our/Detroit's record (in theory) and then they win the tiebreaker against both of us based on head to head record.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 1:56 pmSays Seattle is eliminated. Not sure why since they have the same record as the Twinkies.
I’m more interested in who we play if we win the first series. Would LoVE to play the Yankees.
Most likely, if the Royals hang on and get in, it will be with WC3, since the Tigers are facing the White Sox this weekend. In that case, they will face Houston in round 1, and if they make it through, they will face Cleveland in the ALDS. Given their success against Cleveland this year, that might not be so bad, but Cleveland has also been playing much better lately while the Royals have not, so who knows.
