Re: New Chiefs Stadium
They know for sure the Royals are leaving the complex, so they can plan accordingly. They need to get started sooner than later on Arrowhead renovations if they want Mahomes playing in the new upgraded version. This is their prime money making years too, so they'll need to figure out how to work hard in the off season and do this in phases over a few years.
Any kind of exterior adds where the K currently sits can be part of a later phase, but budgeted for now.
They probably can't truly get much going on Arrowhead until after the 2026 season due to World Cup.

Wonder how the recent allowing of institutional investors being able acquire minority investments in teams impacts these discussions as well as the Hunt's investments in the KC metro

The Hunt’s, along with a few other owners, jumped to the top of my mind as those likely to seek investments from PE.Cratedigger wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:02 am Wonder how the recent allowing of institutional investors being able acquire minority investments in teams impacts these discussions as well as the Hunt's investments in the KC metro

While I don't advocate for replacing such a new building, it would be interesting if the Mavericks moved to where Kauffman currently sits, would put them far closer to the city and could anchor a stadium development. (Lamar Hunt Jr owns them)

If the royals can’t anchor a stadium development there, how would the mavericks?

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
He said 2031 was the plan for a "new stadium". And that its a "plan, not a deadline".
From the context of the rest of the statement I think he meant new stadium or renovation plan for Arrowhead. But I'm sure many will read it as a slip.
I think internally Donavan wants the big new complex in Kansas and the Hunts want to do their best to work it out to stay at Arrowhead. Donovan has no connection to KC before 2009 so he doesn't have the same emotional connection that the Hunts have to KCMO. He probably lives in JoCo and is surrounded by JoCo money and the negativity they have to KCMO.
If KCMO and JaxCo work out a good deal for the Chiefs and they leave anyway then I'm done with the Chiefs. If KCMO and JaxCo can't get their shit together and they move to Kansas then I'll be fine with it. It takes two to make a thing go right.

Seriously doubt the Mavericks would move. They have a great setup in Independence, especially free parking for fans and practice ice attached.Cratedigger wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 10:21 pmIf the royals can’t anchor a stadium development there, how would the mavericks?

Arrowhead was shining like a star on TV last night. It's a monument now and I can't imagine moving out.
Today Rich Eisen and crew gushing about how great a venue it is. Unlike anything else in the NFL. Said it felt like a college game.

It's been at Iconic status for awhile, it's not going anywhere and the decision makers know it. They just can't say it out loud right now.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
I have noticed this too. More and more out of town youtube channels etc are mentioning that replacing Arrowhead would be a travesty.
Everybody knows it needs a major update to the concourses, locker rooms etc, but they gotta leave the main bowl alone.
The new NFL stadiums are getting so small too. Both Nashville and Buffalo will have only 62,000 seats. Renovations to Jacksonville will take it down to 62k too I think.

Just wrap an exterior around it to cover up all that ugly concrete, and please please get new and/or more video boards. Was at the game last night and it's such a pain in the ass to try to see it from either side. Obv clean up the common area's too. If we just do that it's great.

Where are you going to put large video boards other than where they are now?TheUrbanRoo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 12:32 am Just wrap an exterior around it to cover up all that ugly concrete, and please please get new and/or more video boards. I'd prefer they go full mid-century modern and tear off the bolt-on addition that looks terrible. Lambaugh did a great job keeping the character of the original stadium with their renovations a few years ago. Ours was so poorly done and cheap looking. They shouldn't last.TheUrbanRoo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 12:32 am Just wrap an exterior around it to cover up all that ugly concrete, and please please get new and/or more video boards. 100% disagree on Lambau. Their new endzone upper deck looks awful.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 9:32 amI'd prefer they go full mid-century modern and tear off the bolt-on addition that looks terrible. Make them a lot bigger. Could also match the curve of the stadium and make them massiveshinatoo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 9:09 amWhere are you going to put large video boards other than where they are now?TheUrbanRoo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 12:32 am Just wrap an exterior around it to cover up all that ugly concrete, and please please get new and/or more video boards. Re: New Chiefs Stadium
At least it's integrated into the stadium with a similar aesthetic! Arrowhead addition was a pedestal stuck to the side of a concrete structure from the 60s with a metal skin. Whoever designed it should be ashamed.dnweava wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 11:01 am100% disagree on Lambau.
