They've had some pretty good deals at Denver the last few times I've been there.

Went through yesterday and looked for their new signage. Wherever they added it wasn't where I felt it was most needed so not sure what they added.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Idk if this has been talked about yet, but I’ve noticed that, since the new terminal opened, “KCI” has been scrubbed from all official airport material I’ve seen. Often instead “Kansas City International Airport” is spelled out in its entirety. Further, when I was last in the airport a few weeks ago, I noticed an info sign describing a smartphone app or program of some sort, using the name “MCI”.
I don’t remember if “KCI” got used much at the old terminal, but I think this is good that they seem to be encouraging the use of the real airport code instead of our colloquial made up one. Should help visitors

MCI was a fanciful fabrication from the Ike Davis-Charlie Wheeler days. They wanted to get a Worlds Fair to KC around the time Detroit was the frontrunner for the Olympics (went to Mexico City instead). Mid Continent International sounded a lot more sophisticated than the older code, Municipal Kansas City (MKC).
I always kind of enjoyed the substitution that everyone in town immediately and continuously used -- KCI which was neither the actual airport name nor its FAA code.

Apologies if this has been already discussed, but does anyone know why quite a few glass panels are missing on the parking garage? Been that way for months.

I say that too and I assumed they were failed glass?

Just had OG Bandits at the airport. Let's rotate these guys out fast. Embarrassing having this Q at the gateway to our city.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Comparing to current signs looks like the biggest change is adding that second arrow to indicate both lanes can be used for arrivals/departures. I can't place where that last sign is going, there isn't an overhead now that matches up to where that would be placed so maybe adding a new overhead structure?
honestly not sure it helps that much once people finally get more experience at the airport it's pretty simple to figure out. I pick up people frequently at all times of the day and it's never that bad anymore. One Friday afternoon was pretty busy but seemed temporary as it was an influx of arrivals with a lot of peds crossing to the garage.

Those are improvements. Now can we get the other signs on Ambassador Drive updated like I suggested last year?

On the FB page, the airport commented that the exit signs for Bern and Paris Streets will be replaced as well.

Making the Paris overpass something where people could return to the terminal without stopping would probably be the only real big improvement I could see being easily implemented.
Honestly a year into the new terminal it has no real big flaws which is pretty amazing statement.

I don't notice any congestion issues anymore. The curb thing seems to have worked itself out. I do wish KCI would get rid of the smaller single sex bathrooms and just make them all the nicer gender neutral bathrooms. Or just make the regular ones larger. They are often too small to handle crowds when planes unload.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 9:33 am Making the Paris overpass something where people could return to the terminal without stopping would probably be the only real big improvement I could see being easily implemented.

Another issue is the gates at the end of the concourses are very cramped. At least for Southwest.
I would also say that KCI could really use a people mover to the RCF. The buses are way better now, but it's still a slow and clunky process which is typical when airports use buses for off site rental car facilities. A tram that took people from the terminal direct to the upper level of the RCF would be really nice.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Totally agree on people mover, that's just a bigger capital item. Buses are 1000% better to economy than old terminal, I've almost been talked back into using economy lots for certain trips

Also, I know the icons they're using for Arrivals and Departures are the international standard, but I can't help but think of this video when I see them:
Prague's Kafka International Named Most Alienating Airport

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Anybody have much experience with the surface lot behind the garage? since they aren't going to show up to date availability wondering how or if ever that lot is full? I typically uber but for some short trips I will sometimes drive and the economy lot/busing is better but it is still annoying me so thought I'd give the surface lot a chance.
