We need to build a wall along the Canadian border to keep Tim Hortons out.

When Tim Horton’s was in St. Louis, I went once. I thought it was comparable to Dunkin Donuts.

should be fun. Heard of them but never had a chance to visit. More National brands the better (Yes I realize they are from Canada but they have locations in the US). More brands like that entering the market are good news how companies view KC, as a growth opportunity. Plus will be nice to have more variety as these companies looking to come into our market. I'm all for these brands to come our way. Could list about about 5-6 i personally would like to see

When a dozen donuts costs $30 (that's the going price at many Lamar's - and WTF is this KC company doing with a HQ in Denver CO?), I welcome the competition.dukuboy1 wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 10:26 am should be fun. Would be a great fit in the Crossroads. Perhaps a storefront street level space in the new stadium. Right next to Applebees.dukuboy1 wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 10:26 am should be fun. Pretty sure Lamar's sold out a long time ago after the OG- Ray Lamar retired and they started to franchise. The closest to the what Lamar's on Linwood I have found is the one in Blue Springs & in Mission along Johnson drive. Family owned franchises that seemed to want to make sure to keep the Lamar legacy alive. (I believe the Johnson Dr was their original 2nd location) The one in Liberty, MO is not bad either.Highlander wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 10:55 pmWhen a dozen donuts costs $30 (that's the going price at many Lamar's - and WTF is this KC company doing with a HQ in Denver CO?), I welcome the competition.dukuboy1 wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 10:26 am should be fun. But for me, IMO, Donut Kings is the best place for donuts in town.

There appear to be Tim Horton's in many downtown locations in Canada.

Look to future locations to be paired with Burger King restaurants as both are owned by Restaurant Brands International .

I hope Tim Horton's finds success in the KC market! They opened Twin Cities stores some years back and they all closed, which surprised me.

I went to TH in Toronto a few weeks ago. Nothing special. It's like a Dunkin'. No espresso machine at the location I went to. All coffee. Very basic.

Re: Tim Horton's
This is absolutely wild and something I had absolutely no idea about. I used to go out of my way to go to Lamar’s, thinking it was still a local place. Now I’m happy to find cheaper donuts than shell out for a corporatized brand that simply franchises. My understanding is KC area Lamars are still locally owned and operated. He only sold the brand for development outside of the KC metro area.Anthony_Hugo98 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 5:44 pmThis is absolutely wild and something I had absolutely no idea about. Re: Tim Horton's
Since this thread has turned to donuts, I'll go ahead and tie it all together with some fun and morbid info. I may have some of the minute details incorrect, like the brand of auto, but it's mostly accurate.
Tim was a Canadian hockey star and late in his career was traded to a team in NY. I believe part of that deal was a Pantera sports car, though I heard he also had a Ferrari. He definitely liked to go fast. His namesake's restaurant chain was already well established and very popular in Ontario and he was known to drive high speeds between NY and Toronto, as all the cops knew who he was and would only pull him over to get an autograph (pre-selfie days!)
Returning home from a game in Toronto, he was wasted and driving at a high rate of speed and running from the cops when he went off the road and flipped the car several times and was ejected and basically blown to bits. The restaurant, which is mostly a coffee and donut place, soon came out with a donut hole product, which they called "Tim Bits."
If we are lucky enough to get a Tim Horton's in KC, you can pay your respects by getting some Tim Bits and a Double Double, eh.
