Post by taxi »

I'm having a helluva a time accessing compass or any kcmo.gov website. Is it down? Am I banging too hard on my keyboard? Please help and thanks.

Compass and the parcel viewer have been for several days now. The city website is off and on.

The inability for the city to use their social media outlets on this is ridiculous. Definitely a cyber attack.

KC Scout has also been down since April 25. https://twitter.com/KansasCityScout/sta ... 2568376478

Cypersecurity for civic platforms remains pathetic.

Jackson County, KCMO, and KC Scout have all been cyber attacked over the last month or so.

Jackson County was down for 2 weeks and will be open some Saturdays in May to get caught up.
KCMO had no court on Monday and city web services remain iffy.
KC Scout expects to be down for months.

Wonder if the quality of workers is what came to hurt Jackson County, i was browsing the website the other day and they had an opening for a Network Support Administrator. They wanted you to have a degree in Computer Science/Similar and a few years of experience and the position paid 25 bucks an hour. I don't know if this industry has changed but that seems incredibly low paying. Years ago Jackson County was wanting to hire programs for similar pay range. The Missouri side of Government Jobs seems incredible low compared to JoCo and Kansas.

It's not just a KC or Missouri problem.

You can Google "[any state name] cyber attack" and get these results (all seem to be from 2024):

I wonder if 3 of those cities use the same cloud based system KC does since they’re dealing with this stuff at the same time.

For the last few years, I've used the excuse "long covid" for any missed deadlines, emails, etc. I'm gonna start saying "cyber attack" now.
