Zona Rosa adds four new tenants after multimillion-dollar renovation
https://www.bizjournals.com/kansas ... 2023-03-09...
These are the new tenants:
Tulle & Dye Shoppe: opened in January at 7260 NW 86th Place. The store sells special occasion dresses.
Restore Hyper Wellness: Opens in March at 8528 NW Prairie View Road. It provides wellness and cryotherapy services.
Roots: Opens in April at 7102 NW 86th Terrace. The shop is a locally owned tropical houseplant store.
Añejo Modern Mexican Cuisine: Opens this spring at 8600 NW Prairie View Road. The restaurant serves modern Mexican cuisine and margaritas, and this is its second Kansas City-area location.
Pink Dinosaur, a local T-shirt and apparel store, moved to a new space within the district with nearly triple the space. Its new storefront is at 7240 NW 86th Place.
...
Last year, the shopping center added these new retailers: Lighthouse Artspace with Immersive Van Gogh, Muffin Top Bakery and Textured Haus.
Logistics company The Scarborough Group also took a 22,000-square-foot office space starting last year.

Express is closing this location due to company bankruptcy. Talking to staff, the Country Club Plaza location is staying open.
This is one of the original tenants in a semi-neat looking art deco building. Sad loss for Zona Rosa. They need to get the parking garage repairs done ASAP. Hard to find a place to park.
Nice to see quite a few local (mom and pop) stores open/opening. At least its not as empty as it used to be.
IHOP appears open in the old Mexican place. I have also heard good things about the new Mexican place Anejo.

Anejo is good, good food. Good menu. The upper deck will be a hit like it was with Bar Louie.

Nope. There was some type of event in the center lawn, and something else at North Park. Tons of people where there. There was very little available parking nearby with the main parking garage completely closed in the middle of Zona Rosa. Don't forget, most of the Northland is car orientated. Very little public transit is available, nor does it make sense due to low density development. Parking must be available for use.

If you can't find parking at zona Rosa it's because you are too lazy to walk 2 blocks. There was plenty of parking on Saturday even during the events.

Re: OFFICIAL: Zona Rosa (tenants & phase II)
Odd, as there is more than enough parking in the various garages on the west Side. Plus a lot of surface parking on the East side of Dillard's and of course big surface lots in the area that serves Dicks, BWW, Granite City, etc. If it was all filled up that is one helluva event for Zona Rosa. Usually FESTA ITALIANA is the busiest event they have and parking is full but never totally full.
Now I have not parked in the garages in a long time. I usually find street parking or use a surface lot. If all 3 garage spots are under construction I can see where for bigger events parking may be tight.

Wow. Thanks for calling me lazy. That's random.
My son and I had to park in the surface lot east of Dillard's. I don't mind walking...I actually enjoyed it. But we were just making a quick run to DSW for some new shoes for my kid. As with any suburban experience (and expectation) I assumed it would take us about 30 minutes in and out. It took over an hour to complete our shopping trip. Not a big deal...but other people might choose to shop elsewhere.
Zona Rosa DOES NOT NEED MORE PARKING. My point was that most people are just going to drive away if they can't quickly find a place to park. The center garage is the MAIN place to park for most of the quick access to shops. If Zona Rosa doesn't fix it quick, I can see certain people just not going there to shop. The main public restrooms also smelled like sanitary sewer gas. They were clean but smelled horrible. I just want the place to succeed.
Its the only shopping center left in all of Platte and Clay County.

Wow. I think many of us with disabilities are more than a bit offended by this. I don't go to Zona often because of lack of sufficient handicapped parking.

That’s more of an issue with the distribution of handicapped parking than it is about just raw parking numbers though. A place can be overwhelmed with far more parking spots than necessary, but at the same time have horrible accommodations for the handicapped (basically every single square inch of inhabited land in this blasted country)maison rustique wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 7:38 amWow. Re: OFFICIAL: Zona Rosa (tenants & phase II)
I will not back down from calling people complaining about Zona's parking lazy because it's absolutely absurd. If you go to Walmart across the highway to get Milk, Bananas, and Toothpaste, you are literally going to be doing more walking than walking from the furthest lots to the DSW...
I get so sick of people in this city complaining about walking. Walk 1/2 mile across arrowhead/kauffman parking lot: zero complains, 1/2 mile across the oak park mall parking lots, zero complaints, 2 block walk from the middle of the Walmart parking lot to the milk isle, zero complains. 1 block walk downtown or zona rosa: The sky is falling, the city is doomed, demolish everything!!!!

I have an idea. Let’s start an argument over petty sh** like parking. That’s the type of crap that used to be rampant on this board and ran a lot of active participants off years ago turning this place into a graveyard.dnweava wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 8:10 am I will not back down from calling people complaining about Zona's parking lazy because it's absolutely absurd. Parking isn’t “petty sh**”. It is literally the urban form that has done the most direct and catastrophic damage to this cityw00lyb00ger wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 6:59 pmI have an idea. Nah, I don’t think an Urbanist Forum is going to be receptive to the idea of “get over it” for the most egregious land use possible.w00lyb00ger wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 5:39 amIt absolutely is. I'm not going to lie.. You used to be cool and open minded. But ever since going through puberty you've been a total closed minded ass.
As for parking at Zona Rosa. I wish they would have just eliminated all the surface lots. Built more density and housing. And, had a micro train looping around the whole thing connecting garage to garage.
