Belvidere Hollow--a lost neighborhood

Discuss items in the urban core outside of Downtown as described above. Everything in the core including the east side (18th & Vine area), Northeast, Plaza, Westport, Brookside, Valentine, Waldo, 39th street, & the entire midtown area.

Belvidere Hollow--a lost neighborhood

KC Star has article about a now vanished neighborhood that was generally in the vicinity of the now gone Chouteau Courts housing project and the I-29/35 freeway. Predominantly black, mostly substandard building. Just hard to imagine now a seamless city from the River Market through Columbus Park into Pendleton Height and the Northeast.

Happy Hollow was to the southwest in what is now the East Village. Perhaps if we still called it Happy Hollow it would be redeveloped by now. :lol:

Thanks for the additional research. Love the photo with the hazy proto skyline in the distance dominated by the old Board of Trade tower and the dome of the federal court house(wish we still had both).
