Nothing in the article alleged he is a racist and the author skirts around the fact that the investigation started when legal documents , with the employees home address outside of KCMO, were sent to her at city hall. City then initiated an investigation, as they should…

From the Star

“We started the investigation in October,” she said.

The probe began, she said, after the city’s law department accepted a subpoena on Dorch’s behalf last fall in connection with a legal action that was unrelated to her job. The home address on the subpoena was for the address of the house that Dorch owns in Lee’s Summit.

Wait a minute. This is your bar for determining a persons character? The former head of civil rights is fired and you’re shocked they’re claiming racism? The mayor is black, 4 of the 12 city council members are black but sure, the white city manager took it upon himself to fire her for racially motivated reasons.

My favorite completely dumb comment from the article.
— The lawsuit says Dorch “was in fear for her safety and the safety of her children as Mr. Platt never informed Plaintiff that he hired a private investigator to follow and surveil her.” —

Regardless, we still live in a place where accusations alone are not supposed to be how we judge a person’s character. It’s pathetic you’re labeling him a racist based on these accusations.

He’s good people and very well liked, even by non-white people!

Bills, Titans, Pirates, Steelers, Mariners, Milwaukee all built stadiums without a vote. Mix of local/state bonds, TDD. Port Authority issuing bonds sure seems likely, not sure the capacity of any of these entities, to akp point.

Accusations are simply accusations until proven in a court of law. You can label Platt a racist all you want, but until it’s proven, it’s just a claim. Platt has done more in his position than any other City Manager in recent history and it’s clear he’s gotten under the skin of quite a few people. But he’s here to stay and get shit done (as he should). Sorry that it upsets you, but you clearly make comments on this forum meant to get a response. Congrats, you earned it with this one.
There's hasn't been a lot of development since he's been in charge.

Agree on that. Shulte & James were huge assholes who let the roads deteriorate and had an awful snow removal program. If I had to hear the city is too big to plow 1 more time I might puke.

Not to get into that but we do have a vast city footprint with not a lot of density which does strain the ability to plow it all (money and manpower) but yes annoying to continue to hear the same excuse and no real action to make it better.

I forgot my residency location determines my ability to evaluate and understand factors associated with development in the region. It’s not like I work in KCMO or anything…

No shot they get their second round (after 2006) of state funding package for a stadium whilst KC can't even get it's first one still.

Have things changed? StL has a lot of pull in Jeff City. KC typically does not.
