They’re very nice.

One thing I’ll point out, and we’ll see if it remains the case with the Royals stadium, is that it seems like newer baseball stadiums are starting to split with the traditional styling a bit. Look at the Royals NKC concept, this White Sox stadium, and the new one down in Tampa(?). They’re all different from what we think of when we imagine a baseball stadium. It’s some proof that smaller teams are trying to reinvent themselves and usher in a new era in baseball stadium design at the same time.

Very true. While some of us older folks may still prefer the traditional, classic brick and steel styling, the truth is baseball, especially small market baseball needs to appeal to the younger generations more than ever before. The glossy, glass exteriors are more inline with modern architecture and should stand the test of time over the next few decades. They’ve got the baseball fans locked in that are 40+ and most all of them will still attend a game in anew modern stadium. Some will hate it but most will think it’s cool. They need to attract the under 40 crowd badly and the under 30 population desperately.

No way royals stadium in the crossroads should try and mimic it's neighborhood architecture with brick. It will come off cheap and fake and I agree with dcole that gen of baseball stadium has passed.

Ev stadium with an art deco feel may have worked but I fear that would have come off cheap as well.

Very nice, and interesting how they would move further North closer to the main "heart of downtown" in Chicago. I wonder how the old school "south siders" would feel about this location. Looks great and would be a great location in relation to Solider Field.

Every new baseball stadium has a common element of being shoved up against something that can't move (river, rr track, highway) and towards the edge of a downtown or urban space

We may just decide that's a horrible idea despite the history of success ballparks around the country doing this. I don't count 670 because it will be capped.

When the Royals say they have narrowed it down to two sites and then change course w/o any public input or announcement, you can understand why other sites will shoot their shot.

Pure attention play. They know there’s beyond zero chance of this happening but if they can get some national media coverage for an asset they need purchased good for them.

We are in this mess because the royals rushed into the public sphere. They should have done much more behind the scenes and presented a one-site, fully developed plan to the public followed by time to allow for public feedback.

One ad aired during pre-game. It was a couple clips of Royals WS year and recent Chiefs followed by a “Vote Yes in April” slide. Not much to it and never would have noticed it if I wasn’t looking for it.
