^I'd faint with happiness if we got the ferris wheel in River Market. That's the type of spot I endorse.

I wonder if they will designate 20% of the gondolas as affordable.

Name a spot in the RM that you can build the Ferris Wheel on that wouldn't be better used for a building. Would be a cool area for it maybe a little sleepy though!

"Would be better used for a building" is an odd requirement. I doubt there's a single site in the city that would technically be better served by ferris wheel than building. But here we are.normalthings wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 8:12 pm Name a spot in the RM that you can build the Ferris Wheel on that wouldn't be better used for a building. I'm not sure what's sleepy about the river market...one of the more active districts in the city

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point
I read that most people are against the Ferris wheel in this location. The Ferris wheel it's self seems to be a beacon to draw attention to the other great attractions at Pennway Point. There is supposed to be some of the best dinning in KC, A neon museum (maybe only second to Las Vegas), retail shops, mini golf, yard games, gathering space and entertainment. It's certainly more of a family atmosphere than Power and Light. It would also be helpful if there is some kind of shuttle that takes guests around, as there are a dozen, or more, attractions in a close proximity. People would be willing to pay a couple bucks for an all day pass rather than walk it.

The St. Louis wheel is 200'. Liberty Memorial tower is 200'. It is 100' in elevation from Union Station plaza to the deck at LM.

$11 million permit for the Ferris Wheel. I assume that is the cost of site work, electrical, etc?

Interview with lots of details and pics. If they pull this off it will be a great addition to the entertainment options downtown.

Just where and how are the neon signs going to be displayed? Will they be visible from Broadway and/or the freeway?

Lots of potential.
Not sure how I feel about the connection to Brooksider and Harpos.

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point
They are going to be located in an 'alley' between two of the old block buildings. Might be able to see them a bit from Broadway but the Carter-Waters building will block it a bit. Will be hard to see them from the freeway I think.

Btw- they state the Ferris wheel is 180 feet in height.
This is also the first I recall mention of using the yard game area as an ice skating rink during the winter.
