Public Meetings, Engagement, Activism

Post by FlippantCitizen »

I missed the Truman road bike lane meeting because I had other engagements. But I'm not a big twitter user and I often see a lot of meetings come and go without realizing. I do check out KCRag every few days at least. Can we use this thread as a clearinghouse for posting about public meetings and engagement of any sort around the city. This anti bike lane backlash is really worrying to me and I would like to be part of the defense whenever and wherever possible. If you know about a meeting or a chance to speak on issues most of us seem to care about please post here and lets try to organize around having some forum members present when possible/applicable.

I might not be very available over the next few months, got a baby due any minute now. But I swear to god if they rip out every bike lane in this city I give up and move to Portland. I genuinely like KC so I'd like to not go without a fight.

This will be great for countering resistance to groups like KCT on projects as well. If they can organize opposition, then I don’t see why we can’t organize support

Bump – comp plans are important! Only urban public meeting is this Tuesday night. I’d encourage anyone able to attend and make your voice heard – even if just a couple points/sentences.

It's KCMO unelected board application season, so if anyone is interested, here's the link to apply to the board(s) of your choice.
