Considering the premise of the show, I imagine it's not going to portray KC in the most flattering light, but still cool to have a fairly major production filming in townFangKC wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 8:19 pm The Last of Us TV series has been filming in Kansas City.

Very cool. So the Wikipedia entry makes it sound like a crew is filming exteriors in KC but principle scenes with the actors will be filmed in Canada?FangKC wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 8:19 pm The Last of Us TV series has been filming in Kansas City.

Wow, it’s incredible to see how bustling the downtown was back then. If you start at 20:37 in the video you can see how much activity there was.FangKC wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 6:18 pm Some footage of downtown Kansas City in the 1950s.

Interesting how in most of those shots, those buildings are still there just it's not bustling anymore.
I'm sure if Petticoat Lane still existed today, it would once again be a premier area for shopping downtown. What's left of it is more or less a lifeless office street. Thanks Town Pavilion for nothing

The Kansas City skyline appears in the Starz series, The BMF Documentary, Blowing Money Fast, in an episode entitled "The South Has Something to Say."

Movie short online now.KCKev wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 1:21 amThis look great. Looking at the trailer trying to identify locations looks to be the underpass on 17th street heading up to Summit. Anyone else know any of the shot locations? Will have to search for a copy on the intertube.FangKC wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 11:32 pm New Short Film ‘West Bottoms’ Puts KC on the Map for Cinematography

They did a good job with that short movie. Really captured the grittiness of the West Bottoms and fused it with a decent story line. I think it could’ve been a little bit longer, but it was good.

There are plans to possibly fund a feature length version of this film. Would be amazing to see the city on 35mm one day!

Was not sure where else to put this. This story about KCPD was on the front page of the Washington Post today. Doesn't really put the department in good light. I didn't know about most of what was in the article.

The entire new episode tonight of 'The Last Of Us' was set in downtown Kansas City. So cool. It's one of the biggest shows out right now.
It appears next weeks episode (and maybe more) are all going to be in KC too

Re: KC in TV and Movies
trying to figure out which scenes were actually filmed in KC--or did they just take some "B roll" footage for background CGI? in the "behind the scenes" interviews after the episode, the producers said they actually filmed the "kansas city" scenes in calgary. i guess they deviated from having the scenes set in pittsburgh (as in the video game) b/c they were filming in calgary and decided it looked more like KC than pittsburgh.

My fav part of the episode was when Joel says “for the good of this city, we must remove the North Loop” lolchrizow wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 9:53 am trying to figure out which scenes were actually filmed in KC--or did they just take some "B roll" footage to do background CGI? in the "behind the scenes" interviews after the episode, the producers said they actually filmed the "kansas city" scenes in calgary. i guess they deviated from having the scenes set in pittsburgh (as in the video game) b/c they were filming in calgary and decided it looked more like KC than pittsburgh.
