Dublins new 2nd runway is going to open up quite a few possibilities for future direct US flights to Ireland

And the A321LR/XLR. I think once the XLR starts getting delivered it really is going to open up routes around Europe from US smaller markets

Good for them. One less competitor to deal with in our efforts to get BA. Its just between us and IND.

I still think it could end up being Aer Lingus for us once they get A321XLRs.

Im just not sold on BA moving all the quickly. They also could bypass KC, Indy, Cincy and add more frequencies on current routes instead.

Delta announced some new transatlantic flights today, all focused on lax, ATL, and jfk for summer 2023.

So your speculation isn't unreasonable.

Half of what STL paid and what others should expect to pay for wide body service.

You're saying pay double for wide body, correct?

It's been a long time since I connected through London. Do you have to enter the UK like you do in the US, or can you connect to the mainland without going through control?

I think it’s changed since full fledged brexit

I've traveled from London to Schengen a lot, but I've always entered the UK.

Just wondering if they do transit or you have to enter like the us.

Yes. Wide body incentives are closer to $5-6 million now. KC has at least $5 million secured from MO but I would estimate total package of 6+

Connecting flights within either LHR, London Heathrow, or at LGW, London Gatwick, both require re-clearing security and showing valid onward travel documentation. However, you do not need to enter the UK, so it is still technically transit. Your bags remain "checked," for example.

If you do book an unfortunate cross-town connection, then you enter the UK and retrieve your bags. In this unusual instance, it is wise to make it an overnight stay in London. The fastest I ever did LGW-LHR was four harrowing hours including the M-25, but I did make my connection.

The security re-check at LHR also includes a time conformance check, meaning if you are running late, they don't let you back airside, and this is done at the departure terminal of the onward flight. It's therefore more convenient to arrive in T-5 and depart from T-5 than to have to change terminals. If the entire itinerary is on BA (not an AA-operated codeshare), you will likely be in the Terminal Five complex the entire time. BA has a nice lounge offering, and there are lovely shops at T-5 to reduce the stress of connections. If you do come into T-3 on AA, there are staff there to assist, and both airlines make a good attempt to integrate their alliance. Almost certainly a new nonstop MCI-LHR would be operated by BA, likely in T-5.

As long as you give yourself a reasonable connection at London (meaning at least 150 minutes for "all BA" and 180 minutes if AA/BA, in my book), the experience is not horrible and often pleasant. You do hear crazy travel stories around the UK holidays, but the rationale for conformance is to balance the demands of a consistent passenger flow with the available staff.

That was so good, thank you for that.

I understand security, but if it's considered transit do you have to go through passport control?

That's the big issue with UK airports. They've had signs up the last few times being like please don't scream at us.

Schengen is normally perfunctory whereas the UK can be annoying. They have a new system for Americans that helps but I've been sent to the line through it.

I’m on a Delta flight from Portland to Seattle this afternoon. As it’s a regional jet, I gate-checked my bag and noticed that both of the people in front of me had KC as their final destination. I commented on that to the gate agent, so she checked - *40* people on this flight are going to KC.

That’s a pretty strong data point to get a PDX direct back.

And Alaska just pushed the restart back another month on PDX.

Wow... Considerably exceeds. With $9.4 million from Jobs Ohio, total package is $11.8 million

What don’t you buy about it? Looks like a pretty official document.
