Hopefully a management change improves things but the bigger issue remains that the parent companies are approaching bankruptcy territory. The Plaza change needed is healthier ownership, not just local management.

Absolutely, getting this out of the hands of a standard mall operator should be a priority. Could a management group be established for it that actually points it in the right direction if it isn’t local? I feel like the key factor in driving the plaza to success would be local entities that have a vested interest in it succeeding.

Yeah Simon is probably big enough to come through their troubles but not strong enough to invest into what The Plaza deserves. They'll probably be limping for a while even if never reaching bankruptcy. KC Star (functionally) went downhill thanks to a weak parent. The Plaza probably heading into same direction.

Don't know if local players could also invest into what Plaza deserves. A healthy national player is probably best.

Could something along the lines of what the royals ownership group did work for the plaza? Or is that a “too many chefs in the kitchen” type issue? I’d imagine there’s enough large money floating around the metro to put some type of ownership group together.

Hahaha. The Plaza just needs a cheap Axe Throwing joint and a Payday Loans and the transformation to Metcalf South will be complete. Walked it this past weekend and it's downright depressing.
