Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Last monthly status report on site. March.
Yes it is mentioned in one line of the governance update.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
If anyone is interested, some of the gate assignments have been made
WN - B60-69 (10 gates, up from their current eight)
NK: B61 (Its odd Spirit is not receiving their own gate. I guess they’ll share the gate with WN since most of their flights are seasonal and less than daily but there's plenty of space, no need to share; maybe an error?)
F9: B59
G4: B57
The aforementioned four airlines will occupy 13 or 14 gates, leaving 14/13 gates remaining for DL and UA where they'll be located on the northern half of concourse B.
Thus this leaves AA, AS, AC and B6 in concourse A..
The remaining gate assignments will be announced soon.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Cool thanks. I remember early on there was talk of technology that would make any gate accessible to any airline. Always seemed like a pipedream to do that as each airline has things like SWA's pylons.

Searching through permits and plans found the following. New terminal streets will be 1 Kansas City Blvd and 2 Kansas city Blvd. The following vendors have tenant finish permits in. No new additions yet, these were all in the original announcement https://www.buildkci.com/wp-content/upl ... tation.pdf

WN = southwest
NK = spirit
F9 = frontier
G4 = allegiant
Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I'd wager that Spirit didn't get its own gate due to the uncertainty around either JetBlue or Frontier acquiring the airline.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Those discount carriers weren't in the top class of carriers (forget the name of the group) so they probably just get pushed around to whatever fits.
Surprised southwest wanted the back concourse. Figured they got first choice. Happy as an American flier they are in A

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
The south half of B is the closest overall to the runways, so from an operations perspective, it makes sense why Southwest would want it.
Also, I'm sure that Air Canada will share a gate with United, so it looks like we'll have the airport fairly neatly divided up by airline alliance/market segment.
A: Oneworld + Northeast Alliance (American, Alaska, JetBlue)
North side of B: Star Alliance (United, Air Canada) and SkyTeam (Delta)
South side of B: low-cost (Southwest...in theory) and ultra-low-cost carriers (Spirit, Frontier, Allegiant)

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Yeah good point on runway access. I think the B side is bigger anyways for growth?
Can't wait to hear the "100 foot from curb to gate" one time a year fliers who most likely will be on SWA complain!

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Why are the gate numbers so high? They aren’t going to have 69 gates so I’m a little confused on that.trexel94 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 8:38 pm If anyone is interested, some of the gate assignments have been made

Are Terminal B & C going to cease flights the day the new terminal opens in March?

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I'd assume. There was talk of letting an airline in early and phasing it open but not much info since that rumor.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I really like cloud gazing, air up there, and the fountain. The garage stairwells I feel like we wasting good art money on that. We did the same on the 11th and oak garage and it is meh. I like Let the Music take you too, I thought that was going to be a drawing, love they are sculptures. Molten Swing should be cool too. Okay I like them all basically except the garage stairwell. As a pedestrian I really like how the arrivals walkway will have a visual over the crosswalk for even more visibility to slow down. Hopefully they put in a speed table.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
It's very odd the Edgemoor status reports stopped in March. You'd think this final year there would be a lot happening the finish up that could fill a newsletter.
