Crown Center circa 1975 explored the construction of a people mover. Also sounds like they were once referred to as Crown City.

Always amazed by how busy crown center is again. Many shops gone but still plenty of traffic. They really should have thought through their southern expansion better. Almost seems impossible to incporate the remaining lots into the original complex

Or at least an outdoor movie screen showing 24/7 Hallmark Channel movies (esp. during the Christmas season).

After half a century of Crown Center, finally getting a sidewalk on the east side of Main from Pershing to 27th, courtesy of the streetcar.

I've asked for that for years, glad it's finally going to happen. I guess by 2025 or so.

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between
stayed a few hours at the sheraton crown center. hadn't been inside before. knew it was showing its age from reports on here, and yep, it sure is. kind of hard to conceive of this place as a real competitor to loews. i've always liked this building though, and would really like to see a meaningful reno here. i guess the 2020s might not be the decade for it.
should have tried to get myself in the club lounge up top -- not sure it's even technically open as no rooms available to book in it except a ludicrously overpriced suite -- but too distracted/busy. perhaps next time.

Kevin Collison reports that Zaina has moved into the former D'Bronx space.
Zaina Brings Mediterranean Cuisine to Crown Center Shops
Zaina has opened on the ground level of Crown Center Shops and the co-owner of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant believes the new location should generate more traffic than its previous home on Grand.
...
Zaina traces its downtown roots back to 2010 when it opened at 12th and Walnut. It moved to 11th and Grand in 2017.
Its journey to Crown Center was prompted when the building it was located in was sold to a St. Louis developer who wants to convert it to a boutique hotel.

^Hope that works out well for Zaina but downtown Loop could use more mix of ethnic counter eats like this. A loss for the Loop.

Is the Sea Life aquarium going to remain in business after the much better aquarium at the zoo opens next year?
