It's so frustrating to see some the comments made by some fans about not wanting a downtown stadium.
"The K is one of the best in the league" Yes, but it's 50 years old and will need another few hundred million dumped into and you're still at a terrible location.
"There's so many more important things that need the money" I'm just sick of this one and the idea we shouldn't spend a penny on anything deemed non-essential until world hunger and homelessness is solved.
"But what where will we tailgate!" Do Royals fans realize tailgating baseball games is comical? It only became a thing here in KC because the team has sucked so bad for so long that there was no rush to get into the so called beautiful stadium.
"Spend the money on the field" Stop spending your money tailgating in the fuckin parking lot and spend it inside the stadium and perhaps ownership will take that added revenue and use it towards players.
"But downtown means more people and harder parking" Exactly, MORE people and for the love of god, can the city produce a well-made video showing people that downtown parking isn't a challenging parking situation.

Yep. It means they've very likely never been to a game outside of Kansas City. Because most people who want downtown want it because they've been to games in downtown cities and realize how good it is.DColeKC wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 1:48 pm It's so frustrating to see some the comments made by some fans about not wanting a downtown stadium.

Don’t worry people will support it once it’s put in the right light, and most will forget they ever opposed it in a year or so. That’s how the airports goneDColeKC wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 1:48 pm It's so frustrating to see some the comments made by some fans about not wanting a downtown stadium.

Still don't see how they do it when 80-90% of the fans don't want it. It will be interesting to see what they have come up with.

Re: Future Stadium Plans: Chiefs and Royals
Have been meeting a lot of people who thought the idea died because soo many people were against a new terminal. Not happy to find out its getting close to opening. Keeping the stadium out of the limelight via no tax could do wonders.Riverite wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 1:56 pmDon’t worry people will support it once it’s put in the right light, and most will forget they ever opposed it in a year or so. Jackson sports sports authority statement
We are certainly aware that the dialogue about the next iteration of the Truman Sports Complex and our great teams would begin sooner than later," Rowland said in the statement. "We look forward to hearing from the public and the teams over the next several years as we move toward the day when we collectively decide what the home of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals will look like past 2030."

"Royals chairman John Sherman will also use this afternoon's press conference to touch on plans and hopes for a downtown stadium."
"Hopes" doesn't sound solid enough to declare site selection or even funding mechanism. Might just be booster talk and get the conversation going.
