OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road
Re: OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road
It’s probably not a good time to plant trees. Probably the fall?

Yes, October is a good time to plant trees.
Re: OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road
Agreed, there is a nice use of varying materials and colors, including the metal screens, that make this a significantly more attractive building than many modern large apartment buildings. It fits in well along that block, given it's large scale. In some ways it reminds me of a budget Citizen Park in STL, also by OPUS.I really love the metal grill-work they added to the building. It makes the building standout and not seem so lego-like
Re: OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road
The varying cladding helps break up the huge mass of the building, but subtly. Contrast this to City Place that seems to have everything but the kitchen sink hot glued to the exterior. On the trees, would be nice if they put in the large planting wells with oaks like they did on Broadway. I have not noticed, but will this building shade the outdoor seating across the street at the Corner Cafe?

Thank you! These are amazing.

I love this development. It brings such a presence to that corner. I also like the mostly brick facade and darker gray.

Last weekend I drove through midtown for the first time in almost a year.
I forgot about the building and it's huge compared to what was there before. It makes this block feel dramatically more urban

I will admit I visited a TB Cantina in San Francisco, there is/was one within walking distance from ATT Park. It was crowded at the time. Pretty upscale building, served typical TB fare with a few different items plus alcohol sales (beers, wines, sangria and Twisted Freezes). It should do well in that location with the late night crowd especially.normalthings wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 6:08 pm OPUS landed a tenant for the groundfloor.

That's a great get.
Some will scoff at it, but the urban core could use more "urbanized" fast food like that. Helps to make a wider range of people feel comfortable in the area.

People like to eat Mexican food while drinking beer too.

Is Taco Bell "Mexican" food?

Re: OPUS at Broadway Blvd and Westport Road
I went to the one in Chelsea NYC a couple times.
It was nice for like the first week it opened but after that it started to look like a regular dingy Taco Bell that happened to have drinks.
Despite being "fancy", its still ran like a Taco Bell and will degrade quickly to look like every other fast food place in midtown, sadly.
