Wish people would not misuse the word "amphitheater." So many seem to think the "amphi" must mean open air. The Roman Colosseum was the Flavian Amphitheater. Arrowhead Stadium is an amphitheater.

I think that ships sailed. The event world has been using the term for decades and decades. Perhaps pavilion is more accurate but at the end of the day, it’s just a technicality.

Their vision is enormous: They’ll begin at T-Bones Stadium but then build the country’s first soccer-specific stadium for a women’s team, with around 10,000-seat capacity regularly sold out for families, young professionals and fans around the Midwest to watch the world’s best players.

What was their average attendance the first time they were here? MLS isn’t a profit making endeveour so any women’s stadium will require even higher levels of incentives. Sporting KC is one of few profitable teams with $1 million income. Probably would be a loss if not for Cerner events at their stadium.

William Jewell College, a ~1300 student college, has a 5000 seat stadium. So that on par with a high school stadium.

Isle of Capri is moving quickly. Port KC reporting that they are in weekly discussions with Port KC and KCMO. Owner is doing very well financially.

Big closed development meeting for a different project will happen over the Holidays.

The Ise of Capri surface parking lot is about 10 acres. Sandstone is 7-8 with support spaces.




Dashed Blue represents new concrete wall to block interstate noise along the west. The grading required for a performance space would net extra soil that could be used to construct a sound berm to the south(red line). Another option would be to build the site up using extra soil from projects at Berkley Riverfront.

Guess you were right about this location. Casino KC filed a redevelopment plan with the city today.

Renovation/Replacement of existing casino and parking lot. Construction of retail building to north of casino. Future construction of hotel and amphitheater and associated parking.

7 story, 150 room casino hotel. 36,000 sqft retail and dining building. New amphitheater at the Southwest corner of the large surface lot. Drawings show an extension of the KC Streetcar under the Kit Bond bridge to a new terminus.

Casino addition expected to start in early spring. Hotel and parking garage expansion in the future.

That small, right next to a freeway, on the far side of the parking lot. It's not meant to be used.

It's there to be pretty on the entrance road. Probably will serve to control runoff rather than have it flood the road.

I would expect they have an employee lunch spot inside the building and strongly discourage their staff from eating meals where their guests can go.

Its an incremental improvement over what is there now. I envision those surface lots are being preserved for a future and better use. And that is why they are building a second garage far away instead of just adding one right to the west of the casino.

I can't believe with this planned improvements they weren't into paying for the streetcar to terminate at their front door.

After plopping this into CAD and doing some measurements, I'm going to take back my negative comments about the amphitheater. I wish is was slightly larger but there's enough room planned to hold up to 7500 people depending on the final layout. The stage area is on par with the industry minimums to hold larger national acts. I feel they need to be closer to 9500 to check all the boxes though. This has potential.

I hope this spurs some much need development of other spots in the East Bottoms, take advantage of Reiger stuff and Knucklheads. The railroad does kidn of mess up the ease of access down there as trains can stretch for miles and prevent you from getting across the tracks at times. Plus the giant Cargil plant and such off front street complicates access to those other areas. It is going to take some planning to make it all work and honestly not sure how much will be done. That giant Gargil plant is a major drag, and the railroads. Other industrial, warehouse can be worked around but it's still active down there. West Bottoms in a much better spot. Once they start making streetscape and road improvements in West Bottoms to make it "friendlier" in appearance that palce will blow up even more
