POI-O -loved the chicken and ribs and the sauces were out of this world. It's just a terrible location. I don't see anything surviving there in terms of restaurant

Very disappointing about the Bluestem. Reading the KC Star article, it looks like this would have happened with or without CV19 as they wanted to focus on their two other restaurants and more on their family (as well as explore other possibilities).

Agreed, very sad news, but their lease was up and you can't really blame them for letting it go considering the situation. Intimate dining rooms like that don't seem very viable right now and likely won't be for the foreseeable future. I don't know how much of it was covid, but surely it was at least a factor in the decision. RIP my favorite restaurant that I never got to visit as often as I'd have liked, but eager to see what could be coming from Colby and Megan in the future.

Good run for them. May just be a natural progression that the situation heightened like mean alluded to.

This is a smart move for them. There are/will be several prime location spots with landlords eager to bring them in at cheaper rent. The Bluestem needs to be in a prime spot as opposed to next to a Sonic and GameStop.

Bluestem ran it's course anyway. Most James Beard chefs shuffle concepts every few years. They shouldn't have issues finding investors for a new concept but hopefully they go for a Bluestem like menu in a COVID aware space that's still cozy, like maybe cubicle-like compartments with ventilation and not the corporate fern like restaurant format (Rye). Would also consider a center bar with 5-6 sides, to allow 6 groups separate from the others and lounge seating surrounding the bar.

We'll see lots of creative COVID aware lounge designs I'd think moving forward.

In 2022 you won't know COVID existed in how restaurant/bars are designed.

Maybe, but some may still factor that as future possibilities. I'd want that if investing in a space before COVID is over with, especially for smallish lounge restaurants. We also don't know yet if the vaccines will work with future mutations. The Denmark mink mutation is not a good sign.

All of them from the rumors I’ve heard. Owner alleged of domestic violence and being creepy to the younger staff.

I did go to Poi-o a couple days before closing and an employee told me that if all goes as planned, they will reopen in the River Market. I really hope that is the case. This might be the most disappointing closure for me.

This is another place I’d like to see in a more prominent, bigger location when everything shuffles put. Good food and good people. Big loss.

The Ramen bubble looks to be bursting in the city and the one that I am not a big fan is still standing; Komatsu.

Original Blue Moose location closing, O'Dowd's hibernating until spring.
