And now they're jackhammering the crap out of Walnut between 13th and 14th. So much for any guests wanting to enjoy a patio for lunch or a happy hour. Would be nice if these projects were at least announced to the general public. Damn thing is deafening.

Spire projects are out of control and the city has little/no recourse. It's ridiculous. Plug in P&L address and look at the swaths of downtown they are "improving"

The digging crews hit my street in July. Jackhammered for two weeks. All the holes are still open with traffic barriers over them. All on the sidewalk. Just waiting for Spire to come along and do their work.

Been going on in southplaza and brookside for over a year.

I've never seen the metal plate usage in other cities as much as I do here.

Hey, at least most of the new plates I've encountered downtown have had the asphalt on either side finally.

Funkhouser's most memorable legislative achievement.

We should erect a statue of Funkhouser at city hall for this great achievement. Out of asphalt of course.

They paid rent. All rent not paid comes down to our general fund. I'd prefer tenants.

Happy about it? No, but not surprised in the least. Their lease was up, they haven’t done any substantial business for years due to piss poor management and the idea of grabbing a beer with your whopper was always..... off.

I’m excited for something far better to go in a prime spot. We’ve discussed this and it won’t happen, but McDonalds would do great right there.

Especially given in an event driven district.

BTW, KC's leisure/hospitality jobs are back to declining after some recovery...

i missed this, but ice house closed for the winter. reopening in march. kind of a bummer. they were one of the better patios in terms of distancing, imo.

And did a great carryout. Huge winter loss for those living downtown.

Mixx is also closed. They say they want to reopen in the spring, but will take a wait and see approach. Lease is also up, so it's a toss up on if they come back.

This pandemic is starting to show it's destructive path downtown.
