https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/ ... demic.htmlThe Kansas City metro saw 849 business closings — both temporary and permanent — between March 1 and July 10, according to a spokesman for the San Francisco-based crowd-sourced review business.
As of July 10, 489 businesses in the region have closed permanently, including 127 restaurants and 66 retail businesses. U.S. Census Bureau figures from 2017 — the most recent data available — indicate there were 40,608 businesses in the metro.

The good about tapcade closing is that it should keep up/down in that spot for a long time

They have a superior operation anyway. Was never comfortable or impressed by Tapcade.brewcrew1000 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 5:42 pm The good about tapcade closing is that it should keep up/down in that spot for a long time

Re: COVID-19 Casualties
Just want to clarify. The reason it was taken over by ECI was because they were so far behind on their lease. It didn't suddenly start doing poorly because of the take over.swid wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 3:28 pm It still did good business on event nights, but it had become noticeably less busy at other times. While all other Flying Saucer locations (other than the one inside DFW) are operated by their corporate parent, KC’s became a franchise operated by Cordish last fall. There are many more beer options for craft beer in the metro now than there was in 2008, and the KC location’s significant management turnover over the past several years didn’t help, either.
All that being said, it was still one of the top 2-3 craft beer bars in the metro when it closed; to preempt Kevin’s inevitable rebuttal, listicles that say that several breweries or Up-Down were better place for beer in KC aren’t applicable to what I’m referring to, as those things aren’t beer bars.

Re: COVID-19 Casualties
I'm in Tampa airport now waiting for flight to KC and have not seen the airport this dead. Like KCI, nearly all concessions/restaurants closed. Have also traveled in April, May and July but surprising TPA is less foot traffic than any trip last several months. TSA Precheck doesn't even have a separate line.

Bummer. That outdoor space never caught on. At least they built out a full kitchen so filling the space should be easier.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 2:47 pm Clubhouse Experience (although not sure how much COVID19 impacted them)

Re: COVID-19 Casualties
yeah I always thought that courtyard would be a perfect outdoor space for a restaurant/bar.
