Aside from Chicago, I probably can't remember a single city flag. I think some text is fine.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 4:22 pm I think that might be breaking the no-text rule of flag design

The St. Louis flag is probably just as well known as Chicago to Midwesterners. Besides STL, Chicago and KC, I know no other city flags in the U.S. and that's really upsetting.normalthings wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 11:46 pmAside from Chicago, I probably can't remember a single city flag. I only know their flag because of you (and other STL friends) haha. I would never have known otherwiseChris Stritzel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 1:53 amThe St. Louis flag is probably just as well known as Chicago to Midwesterners. DC's flag is pretty iconic.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 1:53 amThe St. Louis flag is probably just as well known as Chicago to Midwesterners. Re: The KC City Flag
I fly the 1970s-1980s flag (the knot by itself, as referenced above) whenever I fly the KC flag at home. It's still available for purchase online. I prefer it to the current flag. At some time toward the end of its lifecycle, the words "City of Kansas City" were added to the knot design, which was the beginning of its end.

Re: The KC City Flag
KC is the best city and we have the best flag. The other cities and their flags are a disgrace.

I do like thelastgentleman's but the colors read Crimson and Blue on my monitor, which doesn't make me feel great.

Re: The KC City Flag
So will every Mayor change the flag now?
I say just revert to the classic "grappling hook" and strip off the wording.

Re: The KC City Flag
Long ago both the red and blue stripes were at the flutter end of the banner.
I also prefer the "crossed paperclip" graphic to the "grappling hook" graphic.
Agreed that the words must go. Flags should have as little wording as possible. Unless it's something ironic like "ceci n'est pas un drapeau"

If the current flag looks too French, here's a different option:

Re: The KC City Flag
The first settlers here were French. The Missouri Constitution was printed in French here because most of the residents spoke French.
Will we be replacing the Lincoln statue on City Hall's lawn with Mao Tse-tung?
