This continues to be my favorite project downtown. DGX will do well and will add much needed day-to-day retail in the Crossroads.

https://cityscenekc.com/crossroads-lan ... uC_hmmDySkDGX, Dollar General’s new urban store concept, is coming to the Crossroads as part of the City Club Apartment development at 20th and Main.
A 4,800 square-foot store that will offer a variety of products including grab-and-go foods, home cleaning supplies, home decor, electronics, pet supplies, paper products, coffee and fresh fruits and vegetables will be located on the streetcar line at 1979 Main.
...
DGX should take urban Target's approach (if they aren't already) where they stock more items that aren't available in the area. Electronics and pet supplies will be good but other things like groceries are along streetcar line. Though some basics good to have in every district.
Target for example won't stock pet items if there's a pet store nearby and will focus on what's not available. And rotate items regularly too. Use DGX suggestion box regularly, or leave note to mgr if there isn't one. Regular DG stores carry a wide range of products so they have the resources to bring in what's suggested.

The wall of plastic greenery on Main seems sorta tacky. A few years of freeze-thaw and UV rays will "kill" it.

I volunteer to water real plants if they promise to rip that thing out.
In other news: ~49 of ~79 unit types show as not available on apartments.com. I'm not sure if this is because they are leased out already or because there isn't a timeline for completion yet.

DGX is now on the City Club website but they have yet to link the restaurant/wine bar website.

That green wall is tacky. Not good looking at all, especially if it’s fake greenery.
Looking at renderings of this place, it’s really cheesy and tacky with the finishes. It’s good infill and a decent project but the finishes are all over the place. Really crazy and gives me a headache just looking at the nuttiness taking place here.

It's a good thing aesthetics are personal.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 2:28 am That green wall is tacky. Not good looking at all, especially if it’s fake greenery.

We will see how it turns out, but I appreciate that they went with a bold design. Much more interesting than the countless beige/grey stucco panel/fake brick veneer buildings going up everywhere. It wouldn't be appropriate for every location, but I think it works for the Crossroads' funky vibe.

I agree with the need to “funk it up” for the Crossroads. Withholding final judgement until the product is finished. This infill is in a critical location along the streetcar route so just really grateful to see it going up. Hoping we can continue this type of infill once our current health & economic situation improves. Once deemed safe to come out of our hiding spaces we need to patronize the hell out of every local restaurant, bar, hotel, cultural attraction that we can. I will entrust it’s “safe” once the medical authorities tell us so, not the politicians or economic gurus.

The new stuff along main has been pretty consistently bland, so I welcome the colors and variety. Shows some creativity.

Interesting. Where? I don't see it on the website: https://www.cityclubapartments.com/usa/ ... ommercial/
They also say DGX is "opening soon" and the wine bar is "summer 2020".

The spaces are being offered via a commercial broker. I don’t think you will be able to purchase your own personal space.DaveKCMO wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 8:20 pmInteresting. Where? I don't see it on the website: https://www.cityclubapartments.com/usa/ ... ommercial/
