Sounded like it to me but then it went into the streetcar expansion.flyingember wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 5:24 pmYet another ordinance that needs a map. Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
I think the new STL Central West End MetroLink station canopy design would be a good example to follow for the Plaza Streetcar stop. Surely the Plaza stop will become the busiest on the network. I'm just throwing an idea out there since I don't know what the plans have in store for station design. Placing multiple smaller canopies, like what exist now, seems weird to me. Maybe extend to cover a good chunk of the platform area but keep the same design as existing canopies.

How close are they to beginning any work on the expansion? Is there a timeline on it or are they waiting for this years rounds of possible federal funding?

IIRC, running about 5 years after funding is locked down, plus/minus a year.

From what I remember the progress is on track and doing engineering part and if we get the next round of funding everything is on track construction wise?

The streetcar authority is currently in the process of selecting a construction manager to build the extension. Bids are due in January.Anthony_Hugo98 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 4:26 am How close are they to beginning any work on the expansion? Federal funding must come in 2021 to keep a 2024/25 opening date.

This could work on the riverfront extension.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:33 pm I think the new STL Central West End MetroLink station canopy design would be a good example to follow for the Plaza Streetcar stop. The extension track is marked in the parcel viewer if you haven't looked in a while

I looked on the Kansas City Parcel Viewer and could not find what you're referring to. Where is this on there or are you referring to something else?flyingember wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 12:50 pm The extension track is marked in the parcel viewer if you haven't looked in a while

Zoom into Main Street next to Union Station. You should see solid lines (current streetcar) transitioning to dotted lines (extension).JLowe2018 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 4:36 pmI looked on the Kansas City Parcel Viewer and could not find what you're referring to. Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Could take as long as 12-18 months to find out about Fed funding for UMKC extension, then several more years before operating. Hopefully free fare bus can be maintained during this period.

It means the denser parts of the city have a much higher taxable value per acre than the less dense areas.
