That is very true. Every time I drive by I think about getting coffee somewhere. Oh Pavlov, I love your dogs!

ya think!?! Tony is pretty clueless when it comes to his own city for someone who writes so much about it.

It's the secret to his success, and so on.

Looked like that since they day they closed. They did recently add a for sale sign....I think it would be a great space for a coffee shop.

I've always imagined a diner in this spot....the windows sort of remind me of the "Nighthawks" painting.

Saw this weekend this building had some wood put over some of the windows and new for sale signs on it.

i've been told by some insiders that they want way too much money for it and that the building isn't in good shape. keep an eye on it for possible demo, assuming a new owner is found. one of the few downtown intersections with historic buildings on all four corners.

Lies, dirty lies. I predict his building will be the only unrenovated building downtown in the year 2040

How did this thread start with them 'closing' in 2007 and just now they are actually closed/leaving. Worlds' longest going out of business sale?

I wish there was an arch across Broadway and 5th, and I-670, that said "Welcome to Kansas City"  Sometime like the City Market sign.  Vintage, bulbs, and neon.
I'd like that too, but aren't you in Kansas City long before that?
NKC put theirs at the entrance to downtown, well after you enter town.

It's been closed since about as long as the thread has existed, that doesn't mean their junk follows.

I have no background if this is the case, but don't underestimate the stubborness of someone to not want to do something with a property (usually the stuff in it) and their heirs end up dealing with it.

Given they retired in 2007, it's entirely possible the former owner just passed.

I noticed a few recently opened permits for this building. Maybe something actually is happening?

Might I inquire as to what type of permits?
