Thanks for all the great pictures, Fang. The Beacon village looks like a really great infill development. I don't think they're going to have difficulty selling those homes. Hopefully more density in the area will follow. Lots of trees and scrub land around there.

I don't know if it was posted here, but the KC Star had a long article about the troubled Black Economic Union/Vewiser Dixon who owns the land around there and has had all kinds of grandiose plans for years, got wrapped up in a Ponzi scheme, and generally hasn't done anything to date except some initial renovations to the Vine Castle/Workhouse building.

Yes, I saw that article. It's a shame all those parcels are tied up in controversy. That has certainly caused problems for the 18th and Vine District because it has held back residential development that might support some retail shops there. I don't know that single family houses would be the best use of that land. Since so much of it is already vacant, it might be better to build apartment buildings. There aren't a lot of adjacent neighbors to object to density like we have experienced in Hyde Park with the Armour Boulevard developments.

Taste varies and changes over time.

If they’re built well matters more.

Windows are super expensive both in terms of purchasing and how green a building is.

For a company trying to maximize profits it's an easy place to cut back

They're attempting to sell these for $400,000 in the East Side less than a block from non-stop highway noise.
