No windows in the bedroom of the 1br is an interesting move at ~$1400/mo.

One KC Place isn't a giant window the whole length up and it's nearly the same.

No natural sunlight to wake you up in the morning is really a drag IMO.

Sky on main and the buildings I manage have the same concept. People like it, but I personally could never.

Working the night shift and sleeping during the day seems like the most likely reason.

And blind tenants, second most likely reason.

Now it's blighted. So if you really think this through, Tower Properties cleared the North Loop because it was blighted, only to put up a cheap building that 43 years later is also blighted.
And many of those buildings cleared by Tower would probably be in better shape and more coveted than the Flashcube today with a little upkeep and maintenance.

I found an actual photograph of the American National Bank and the Kemper (smaller structure next to the bank) buildings taken in 1964. That garage to the right is the one that used to be north of the Flashcube Building and was demolished a few years ago.

That has to be a rare image. It must have been razed at about the same time as the old Board of Trade. The north loop could have been a 19th century brick historic district.

And not just any 19th century historic district. It would've been punctuated with two excellent Burnham and Root designs. You can see both in this shot

Below: from left to right: The Postal Telegraph Building, the American National Bank Building, and the Kemper Building.

The middle building is the Kemper Building.

This is the Baltimore frontage showing the back of the Kemper Building and the Massachusetts Building. The building in the far background is back of the New York Life Building.

She's the muse of the river, not the state. "The Muse of the Missouri." Monument to a Kemper killed in WW II.

Being the Muse of the entire river and not just a mere state gives her a larger dominion that she holds sway over. Bring offerings and worship.
