At the Plaza stop, both lanes of the streetcar and the dedicated bus lanes will be on the east side of Main in a transit plaza. It shows that in the rendering if you take another look.
My question is where will the UMKC stop be? Does it move to the Wiggings trail, in the old ROW, at that point?

Can even see an extension of the trail on it.

Because it would be fucking cool! and if done right, beautiful. The Plaza has a sense of place. I wish we could build upon and expand that.flyingember wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 12:39 pmWhy? It's not on the Plaza and there's multiple buildings equally far away without a Spanish look.Midtownkid wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 12:10 pm
That stop should have a Spanish look. Red Tile Roof. Smooth concrete archways holding it up. Think LA Union Station.
It could be done in a way that incorporates the branding. That station would just have a greater architectural feature. It would also provide better shelter. Anyway, I know it will not be done. Just think it would make for a really cool station.
Something like a miniature version of this:

It’d be overrun with homeless people. I’d also like to see them eliminate the center of traffic medians. Giving access to driver side windows encourages panhandling.

Now we start engineering, and hopefully the administration will name the project for a grant since it has met all requirements.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 4:37 pm Project Managment Agreement for the Main Street Extension passed 10-0.

There are no guarantees from this administration, but the project schedule anticipates a grant in 2021. We may have a different administration then!

High costs (20-30%) are due to the big allocated and unallocated contingencies.
Is the spike in cost/hour due to the purchase of new cars?
Vehicle Maintenance Facility Drawings have progressed as well.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
So it looks like they plan to run 7-8 at peak for 10-12 minute headways. Ideally they can run same on weekends as well at some point. If free bus occurs, at least there will be other options to get between Plaza/downtown, effectively increasing net headways.
And 2024 seems optimistic.

I wonder if we could see a downtown circulator service during special event days or the like.earthling wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 10:02 am So it looks like they plan to run 7-8 at peak for 10-12 minute headways. That's a good idea, assuming they leave the Union Station switch in place. They would have to add a new switch at the northbound junction, I assume???normalthings wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 3:45 pmI wonder if we could see a downtown circulator service during special event days or the like.earthling wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 10:02 am So it looks like they plan to run 7-8 at peak for 10-12 minute headways. Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
There is going to be a switch at US/Pershing, 39th, and southern terminus based on the design docs.
