Is this still latest rendering?beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 2:37 pm It looks like construction has fully started on Midtown Plaza. They’ve remove a section of the precast side to begin demo of the interior.

I think that is the rendering for both phases. It only looks like they are working in the existing building right now (right of the picture).
Also, they are working on the old Soli building on Armour and Broadway and the building next to Gomers. I’ve heard the butcher shop will move into it and be torn down for more parking.

Parking does suck there but it's cause people don't use the other parking lot or park on the street. There is lots of street parking by gomers
Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom
So, the theory is Broadway Butcher is moving into the old Soli space? Just wanted to clarify. The building Broadway Butcher is in now kind of sucks - but certainly don't want it replaced by a surface lot.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 5:33 pm I think that is the rendering for both phases. Facepalm if true that current BB is torn down for parking. The continuing suburbanization of midtown, sigh. Or maybe 1 step forward, 2 back... haven't really tallied.

Full disclosure: not totally sure about this rumor yet, but was told Gomers bought the building to the north of BB, (They also own BB building) and that they plan to move BB one block north and tear down current spot for parking. There was also some talk of a cheese place to compliment the butcher spot but I believe that idea died.
Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom
Yep, no one parks on street there. Plenty of parking on Broadway in addition to their lot. Frustrating - urban living pet peeve!Parking does suck there but it's cause people don't use the other parking lot or park on the street. There is lots of street parking by gomers

Final empty plat along Linwood in Midtown Market Place is going in as retail & fast food. Two curbs cuts, but actual street frontage.

Kind of surprising. I can’t imagine what fast food isn’t already in the area, except Chik-fila which probably wouldn’t go there. Maybe Burger King is going to rebuild and tear down their nasty old building along the streetcar line.bspecht wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 6:48 pm Final empty plat along Linwood in Midtown Market Place is going in as retail & fast food. It is suprising. I don't know what else that area could handle. I could see Popeyes going back in, maybe Arby's. What about a sub shop like Jersey Mike's? I don't think Chick Fila would go there.

Yeah, would hope for BK at Armour/Main to relocate to this spot and free up that location for a nice corner mixed use development. Such a prime corner location with a large wasted parking lot.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 9:43 pmMaybe Burger King is going to rebuild and tear down their nasty old building along the streetcar line.bspecht wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 6:48 pm Final empty plat along Linwood in Midtown Market Place is going in as retail & fast food. Do we think this has a tenant? Or could it be spec space?

No idea if these are apartments or not, but this thread seemed like the best place to put this.
Found a new 11-unit project on Compass in Midtown...
Link to permit on Compass, which has renderings.
This project takes 5 empty lots (Streetview) on the north side of 34th between Wyandotte and Baltimore, and builds 3 separate mini-rowhouses along with an alley-like area with garage entrances in the rear.

“These units are not apartments and will not be rented.”
“Our Intention is to encourage a new generation of buyers to purchase homes in the area”
Other Interesting Details: homes are to be net zero, neighborhood was involved with the design and is in support of the project
