Doesn't look bad based on the drawings. This will make that corner better

Nice catch! Should really help to fill that block out. Between this and the (attempted) redevelopment of the McWhirter lot, 9th is really starting to come together.

Cambria are nice hotels. Similar in style to Embassy Suites. They are kind of a new brand of choice hotels and have been expanding to a lot of cities

I was able to view them on Desktop. It’s a decent design.

Can we get the parking minimums for residential removed already so lots like this go for people to live in the CBD?

Very simple architecture, however, there are some cool details. The windows change at the top in a way that evokes the penthouse structure of the savoy.

The corner tower of the Cambria will also be a nice compliment to the New England Building's corner oriel window. Could be the start of a very interesting intersection.

Based on the math for parking spaces on the architectural site plan drawing - I think there are ~130 rooms in the hotel.

There are 43 parking spaces dedicated to the hotel portion

Rooms 1-20 require 1 space per room (20 for Rooms 1-20)
Room 21-40 require 1 space per 4 rooms (5 for Rooms 21-40)
Rooms 21+ require 1 space per 6 rooms (18 for Room 21-130)

Two new-build hotels along 9th Street in 100 years. This and the Hyatt House. 9th Street used to be the hotel district in the 1880s-1920s because of the streetcar lines on 8th and 9th streets from Union Depot in the West Bottoms.

Collison on project...
https://cityscenekc.com/south-dakota-de ... -district/

Not asking for incentives. Will include 149 rooms, 3600 sqft retail space (corner access would be ideal), 57 parking spaces (not clear on surface lot but apparently some, hopefully behind), 6 floors.

8th was a tunnel to a viaduct, 9th was a viaduct the whole way

Was there a streetcar on Wyandotte then? They're redoing the water main lines on that street and you can see old rails that they've dug up. I can only assume it's from the streetcar.

They are running a chiller and/or steam vent for Loew's. Let's not mention they are blocking both sides of the intersection which was never supposed to happen.

Yes there was a streetcar line there. Can still see the poles as well.
