Should be easy to replace as this, likely, has nothing to do with infrastructure.

The hard part is done, which is conduit ran to a equipment room which houses the playback software. Really a very simple thing to fix.

DColeKC, has Cordish ever discussed replacing/re-organizing the sidewalks along Main from 670 to 12th? Those are the worst part of the district, experience wise.

As far as the brick surface and inconstant level? The brick overall has been a nightmare!

Yeah. That and just the fact that you can't walk-in a straight line down the east side of the street because its so cluttered and awkwardly setup. From the tree planters, outward opening doors, protruding staircases, streetcar poles, 2 different sets of street lamps, multiple drives, and just general narrowness for how heavily used it is...its almost never a pleasant experience to walk down.

I was with them through the streetcar process and we did discuss how the sidewalk wasn’t a great pedestrian experience. It was already narrow before the additional streetcar infrastructure went in. The only improvement I could see being effective would be removing the planter boxes?

It never made sense to use such huge planter boxes with narrow sidewalks to being with. About as counter-intuitive as it gets. Or is that an argument against Cordish you couldn't agree with. :)

As much as I love the trees and plants, I would be open to removing them on this stretch only because the sidewalk simply isn't wide enough for the level of foot traffic. Maybe add some awnings to the 1200 block to make up for the absence of trees?

It’s definitely the least friendly sidewalk in the district. A big battle has always been aesthetic vs function. I usually saw aesthetic win which was highly annoying and frustrating.

yes the sidwalk LOS right by H&R is very poor. The planters need to be half as wide at best. They aren't even that aesthetically pleasing as is.

It doesn't help the sidewalk is very narrow next to H&R, so even removing the planters completely doesn't create the kind of sidewalk needed to handle the amount of traffic is sees.

Poor design from the beginning, but not everyone was on the same page with the total footprint of H&R which is where the sidewalk gets pinched down.

Why not remove the curbs that limit the sidewalk space and install steel tree well covers like the block to the north? That stretch is such an embarrassing design blunder.

I don't know Dave. You're familiar with design embarrassments, but not in regards to actual physical structures, more of the web-based kind.
