Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?
Yes.
I was imagining that perhaps they were putting a swimming pool / lap pool there.

Levee designs are underway, and the project anticipates its first construction contract to be awarded in September. Updates will be made to 18 miles of levee systems, which reduce flood risks for an estimated $10 billion worth of property value, Mensing said. Improvements include raising the levee system by 3 feet and repairing gate walls.

This is definitely the kind of world renderings exist inCreated by Sid & Marty Krofft in 1969 for NBC. The Series follows a shipwrecked boy named Jimmy (Jack Wilde) and the Mayor of Living Island, a friendly dragon named H.R. Pufnstuf, who helps protect Jimmy from the evil Witchiepoo.

Really hope the upcoming Rock Island Bridge launches with several vendors and support structures in Phase 1. If it's just a pedestrian bridge, in that location without connecting trails, etc. I worry it will fail to capture the imagination of the city.
I do agree with the biz journal article that there are few things more KC than a 1905 railroad bridge in the heart of the stockyards district, over a river

The building that could become Rau's HQ has had brick removed on the west side, exposing a much older wall underneath

If they need old brick to rebuild the brick in that area over the loading dock opening, I know where they can find it.

The west bottoms flats' moat has been drained.
Some action at the corner of 9th and Wyomming that I hadn't noticed before. I believe the building on the left is now owned by the apartment project.
