The Call endorses Justus.

More and more I see groups/people who are fighting progress back Lucas
Don't you worry Lucas is pretending to fight against big interest. He says he opposes voting yes on 1

Justus has experience dealing with Jeff City and some seem to like her. Can't see Lucas having any impact at the state level.

BTW, bus rides are free tomorrow for the election.

I received a text calling Justus Negative and Desperate - and showing a screenshot of a TV ad saying Justus admitted to racist mailers.

It read EXACTLY like a JohnnyMatrix post.

Sounds like a special interest group needs to start cutting me a check.

Receiving unsolicited, mass political text messages is actually illegal. If you didn't sign up to receive texts from that source, you should probably contact a lawyer and see if you can identify who sent it and how.

I received three unsolicited text messages since 2017 from my Volvo dealership in Florida. I did have a business relationship with them, as they service my car during the winter. Last month, I received a postcard from some Big Law muckety-mucks informing me that I will soon receive a form to claim $375 per text message as part of a $5 million settlement already agreed by the dealership. Five million dollars from one car dealership. Three texts. They are printed and sitting in my accounts receivable folder -- a thousand bucks is a nice weekend in NYC.

Just saying...

"The PAC funded by a Leawood LLC that, according to the Pitch, has ties to Leawood lawyer/Democratic kingmaker Mike Ketchmark. Ketchmark and his wife have donated $6500 to the Lucas campaign directly, and spent something like $150,000+ on PACs that support Lucas."

Seems more a class action type of situation doesn't it? I have no idea but no way one person is going to figure this out with one lawyer unless they just really hate texts.

Yeah, probably.

But the penalty/damages are fairly significant and worth your time. Quick google searches will find a lawyer who does that kind of thing. Once they know there is a case, they will find additional claimants for their case.

StL had a lawsuit and payout related to this in their last campaign cycle I believe.

I thought so, too, but then the media reported this from the Missouri Ethics Commission:
Missouri Ethics Commission Executive Director Liz Ziegler says there's no state law requiring disclosure of who's paying for the text messages.

Political ads in other media, like TV and mail, require a disclosure stating which campaign organization or political action committee (PAC) paid for it.

Text messaging is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission, or FCC.

Spam texting laws can be avoided by having individuals text other individuals.

It's not just individuals obviously. I sent one of them a gif and was told they can't get mms messages back so obviously using some tool where they just input and individual phone number to spoof.

I'll say Lucas by 5-8% back in April I thought Justus had it hands down but I haven't seen really that much excitement about her and it seems like Lucas was dominating the news. I figured she would carry the more conservative white areas in a landslide while winning midtown. She still very well win midtown but I've been impressed with Lucas able to court the more Republican voter support. In this past month I was invited to a fundraiser at a wealthy Republicans home on Ward Parkway for Lucas. The past few days I've gotten calls from 2 different Republican groups backing Lucas getting out the vote for him. Despite all that he hasn't alienated the core voters in the city but perhaps the election results tonight will speak differently.
