Mansion Coffee Opens Softly Inside of Byers Mansion in Kansas City's Historic Northeast
A new coffee shop is almost officially open for business inside Byers Mansion in Kansas City's Historic Northeast neighborhood.

Mansion Coffee has been pouring coffee for donations to anyone who stops in during the shop's “extended soft opening.”

“During the first few months, the rule was if the first floor curtains to the mansion are open, Mansion Coffee is open. If the curtains were closed, then so are we,” explains barista Loren Fleming.

Fleming owns and manages Mansion Coffee along with Cynthia Herrington and Johnny Lancaster, who also own Byers Mansion itself. The tall, stately gray house is located on Independence Avenue and opened to little fanfare around Thanksgiving last year. The trio has been waiting for the change of occupancy to finalize on the mansion, allowing the house to be zoned as a mixed-use space. Then, they will be able to officially open up the quirky retail coffee shop on the first floor of their new space.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but Custom Truck One Source has really expanded and taken over the former Armco Steel property. Buildings that only recently were shells are now enclosed and being used by Custom Truck. Their trucks are parked all over the property on both sides of Blue River, and north and south of Independence Avenue.

Tour a booming $850M company's KC headquarters [PHOTOS]
...
The builder and supplier of specialty work trucks relocated its headquarters to two buildings on the site in the Blue River Valley Industrial Corridor in 2005.

The company has been rehabbing additional vacant warehouses and converting them into work-spaces ever since. The warehouses included the former steel company's bridge cranes, which, with the high ceilings and additional square footage, has given the company ample room to grow.
...
Custom Truck initially bought 17 acres of the Armco site, but now the company occupies 75 acres.

Westside Housing appears to be renovating the building on the northwest corner of E. 8th and Woodland Avenue. A sign on the building indicates it's a solar project.

That looks great. They're serving Hana's donuts - which I think are some of the best in KC.

Funny how we demolish that great little colonnade court by the medial school, then construct some pseudo-colonnades nearby.

...
Although the business model will be similar to the one Splitlog Coffee Co. has in Kansas, they also plan on including a kitchen where they will serve breakfast items such as sandwiches and wraps, alongside their normal pastries.

Building being renovated at 2200 Lexington, on the NE corner of Lexington Avenue and Brooklyn, in Pendleton Heights. NE News reports possible coffee house coming in August. This is west of the Bhuddist Temple that is being constructed.

Beautiful design but cant help but wonder how long before they are turned into drug houses?

Unacceptable. Consider yourself warned. If I see another report like this, you will be silenced.
