People tend to think of midwesterners as being a fairly friendly bunch, right? Little do they know, however, that we've only been channeling our hatered into these online forums all this time!

It was just a gentle joke back. I’ve found younger people today have a hard time with sarcasm. They take it as literal. Old people like me seem to appreciate and understand a gentle bite more easily. My apologizes if you didn’t appreciate the joke.marieantoinette wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 5:45 pmJeez, I misread. Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
I had real hope for the Warwick Theater when Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre purchased it, but after reading the article--in the link below--I have real concerns that they can even continue to maintain the building long-term.FangKC wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2015 5:37 am Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre will begin renovations soon on the Warwick Theatre
http://www.kansascity.com/entertainment ... 54480.htmlKaren Paisley, artistic director of the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, told the opening-night audience of “The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail” in her pre-show remarks that the nonprofit theater had closed on the purchase of the historic Warwick Theatre.
The venue was built in 1912 as a movie theater and is on the east side of Main Street between 39th Street and Westport Road.

Maybe this is planned move for a new concept in both spaces. I don't know what kind of concept. Everything has been has been done and we kind of have an oversaturation on most concepts

Yeah McCoy's supposed to close I believe end of the month. I wonder if Beer Kitchen and Char Bar are affected since they're all owned by the same group? Who knows, maybe someone bought the lots and is planning a mixed use tower on the spot LOL

Re: Westport
It doesn’t look like Char Bar or Beer Kitchen are affected because they said gift certificates could continue to be used at those restaurants.

Re: Westport
Hate to lose McCoy's. I think their food stayed solid for their entire run. The last meal I had there was excellent. Not saying there weren't some bad ones in there too, but overall they seemed to maintain. I think their beer game turned a bit south after their brewer left, but they could still put out the standards.
I get that there is a beer boom going on, but there really isn't a brew-pub boom. Greenroom, Martin City and Brewery Emperial are the local ones I can think of now.
