Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment
Neighborhood Facebook page reports that moving trucks are arriving for at least one of the buildings.

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment
Update photo taken Tuesday, Jan 10. The facade appears to be repaired, and the building salvaged.FangKC wrote:I drove by this morning and they were removing the corner of the building on the third floor on a part of the building where the facade had not collapsed. I don't know if this means they are demolishing the building, or just removing sections of the facade that are not stable with the intent on rebuilding the facade later.

So nice to see it saved. We eat at Vietnam Cafe across the street often and was sad to see it nearly come down.

The Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority on Wednesday approved a 10-year, 100 percent property tax abatement for the second phase, which will include a four-story, 60-unit apartment building and two-story mixed-use building containing 6,400 square feet of ground-floor retail and six loft apartments.
In addition, the LCRA agreed to sell Columbus Park Developers the five remaing LCRA-owned parcels in the redevelopment area, which is bounded by Third Street on the north, Fifth Street on the south, Campbell Street on the east and Cherry Street on the west.

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment
Yeah. The couple that owns the building on the North West corner of Missouri & Troost is subdividing the parcel to build 5 row houses. If you're familiar with the area- It will replace that old pool

At least one of them is a lurker and occasional participant here. Going to be a very nice project restoring some of the historic density of Columbus Park. It was very nice of KCMO planning to help this entrepreneurial couple proceed in a time and cost efficient manner. /s

It's good to see someone doing infill development without tearing down existing buildings. That's always a good starting point.

The pool can be replaced! I picture a rooftop pool that spans all three homes. When it leaks into bedrooms it will be advertised as a water feature.smh wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 10:40 amI heard the shed was going. Also let's not forget the pool that was removed! Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment
I'm concerned about how it could affect neighborhood character.
