This reminded me that I downloaded this building as a replacement design for the convention hotel that is being built.GRID wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 5:22 pm Well, this would have been amazing. I have never seen this or know what it was for, but someday downtown KC will get some really impressive or at least interesting new towers.

The lobby floor has some impressive height. The lobby bar will have a killer DT view.

The lobby height is HUGE.
You're right, the floor to ceiling view out those windows will be stunning.

The cladding looks somewhat beige, I thought the renderings looked more grey. Is this a pre-cast stone like the KCPA or metal panels like the Barnes ballroom?

Depends on the lighting. Beige can look a little more blue with a daytime color temp and will look more yellow at sunset as the sun skews towards yellow.

The panels look good in my opinion.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
I looked at the plans. Baltimore is where floors are counted from.
There's going to be a two-story restaurant on 1 and 2 with direct Baltimore access as well as hotel access. So this will let people walk out from their room and reach Baltimore directly. So that side won't be completely a wall of nothing. Bike parking will be available here.
Then on level 3 on the NE corner is the fitness center and the pool to the south along Baltimore.
Level 4-5 the NE corner is an outdoor deck on the NE corner. The main hotel restaurant on the east side with mostly with views of the hotel across the street but you can also see across and access the outdoor deck from it. It looks like the hotel bar will sit up next to the north end of the lobby on the west side but will be able to see out past it from nearly the southern end of the lobby.
Level six the rooms start on one side of the floor but there's a hotel club on the NE corner.
There's going to be very few rooms without a good view of something downtown

On the hotel end the columns to support the floor of 7 are going in.
On the garage/conference end it's two floors lower at 5

Is this falling behind schedule? The meeting/parking structure is scheduled to be completed in October.

It looked like the first exterior panels were being installed on the first floor today when I walked by. They were dark grey precast with modular angles.

Someone posted a 360 photo on Reddit, so I cropped it to show the current construction for those out of town or haven't driven by.

A very good view of the construction is now visible from the Liberty Memorial deck. It is apparent that due to the tower being set back somewhat from Baltimore that only the lower western section of the P & L bldng will be obstructed from the south.

Excellent. And with the new Bravo Hotel proposal it appears the skyline will continue pushing south.
Adding shorter mid-rises to the Crossroads will somewhat retain the density viewpoint from the south after the "Light" towers diminish it.
