I think Kander will do very well in the Northland, He should be a household name up in the Northland and Clay County is slowly turning blue each year

The KCRag takeover of the city council will have to wait.

Where in the city does Kander live? (Roughly. I'm obviously not looking for exact location)

I think Lucas has a chance but going to be tough to beat the Kander name.

Have to imagine that some of this will depend on Kander's platform, which nobody's seen yet. I love his voting rights work, but the mayor's office isn't about that.

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections
Eric Bunch is running against her, it seems. Staub mentioned Bunch was running in his video today. I can't find any other mention of it except for in Tony's Kansas City which says he is running for 4th at-large and also calls Bunch a "militant", lol.
Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections
Eric is indeed running against her, he had a campaign kick off earlier this month and I believe he's going to be rolling out the campaign soon. He is militant, you should see that guy cross the street in traffic.tower wrote:Eric Bunch is running against her, it seems. Staub mentioned Bunch was running in his video today. Let’s all get behind Bunch. Would be an excellent replacement for Shields.

Fantastic. That will be the second easiest electoral choice I've ever made.mykn wrote:Eric is indeed running against her, he had a campaign kick off earlier this month and I believe he's going to be rolling out the campaign soon. I'd be interested in getting involved in Kander's campaign--does anyone here know who is organizing things or are we still too early in the process?

I'd love to see Kander lead a true progressive slate for the next Council.

Change and growth are best served at a local level.DaveKCMO wrote:I'd love to see Kander lead a true progressive slate for the next Council.
I'm stoked about Kander.
Caught cold, but heatedly stoked.

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections
I hope Kander doesn’t make ‘affordable housing’ one of his main campaign pieces. I think it would be a real loser for him, especially in the Northland. He should push continuing the growth of the city and building infrastructure. Affordable housing will play with the East Side, but Kander will likely lose that to Cannady or Lucas anyway.

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections
As long as he doesn't propose affordable housing in the Northland I honestly don't think they'll care.

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections
Perhaps, but a strong progressive campaign (affordable housing, raising minimum wage, transportation taxes, etc) will not fly in the Northland. If that were his campaign, I could see a conservative Northland candidate emerging and Kander and an East Side candidate splitting the core and both losing.DaveKCMO wrote:As long as he doesn't propose affordable housing in the Northland I honestly don't think they'll care.

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections
That should be sorted out at the primary.
