Yes, they are good jobs. Then you also have to factor in the jobs that may be created or sustained by the increase in visitors. Jobs at area businesses, the airport, etc. There is a big indirect impact from this project.

800 rooms, 80% full, 1.5 people per room is 960 people

If 70% eat out two meals a day that’s 1344 meals daily. With 40 people per member of staff on average that’s around 30 Jobs in restaurants.

Another 20% increase in resulting jobs coming from the hotel isn’t unrealistic.

Interesting video of the construction site got posted to Reddit. I watched it over and over until it gave me motion sickness.

How far down are the cutting out the limestone in the SW quadrant? All the way to the Baltimore level?

rough guess from the rendering, they're not going to remove any of it.

looks like they're going to pour a wall next to it, add fill and build on top of it

?? They have already excavated a substantial part of it. Think maybe you are thinking of NW quadrant, I was asking about SW where garage and ballroom wing will be.

Super cool video and a ton of progress made so far. The east end of the site already has the outline of a foundation. This thing is moving fast -- should see it poke into the skyline by the end of the year.

There’s an east and north camera, maybe you were accidentally looking at the east cam? North still seems to be aimed correctly.

Steady progress on the site! Concrete pillars are being set on the south and east sides of the site. They are moving fast and should be vertical by sometime next quarter.

On the live cam it looks like they are putting in the base of another tower crane on the upper portion of the construction site.

Speaking of the foundation, does anyone know if they are pouring the foundation to allow the hotel to expand at a later date i.e. from 800 room hotel to a 1000 room hotel?

I highly recommend you walk around this project site while they are working on it. It’s huge!

How can one safely walk around it? Everytime I have looked at the webcam I am surprised there have been no auto or pedestrian accidents. Most traffic does not ever come to any type of complete stop and people walk toward the NW corner of the intersection where there is no spot for pedestrians. I agree it is huge, as are the convention center and KPAC. This part of DT has seen all of the monumental construction projects in the past quarter century. The urban fabric around the I-670 wound has almost finally healed.

The gate areas on the 2 south corners and the northeast corner provided good viewing spots today.
