Re: Make Grand Great Again
Recently saw a tweet asking for more trees planted along Grand. Does anyone have more information on this project?

Re: Make Grand Grand
Wasn't there supposed to be water/sewer work happening on 18th right now? That was supposedly the delay of bike lanes on 18th....
So Dave is this funding on Grand already going to change up the bike lanes ?

Yes. Most likely it will swap the parking and bike lanes so they would be protected.KCPowercat wrote:So Dave is this funding on Grand already going to change up the bike lanes ?

Re: Make Grand Grand
Why not just put up bollards on existing bike lanes? Only a drunk or completely psychotic idiot would drift into the bike lanes then. Oh wait...that is actually likely.DaveKCMO wrote:Yes. Re: Make Grand Grand
Bollards with existing configuration would block the curbside parking. Hence swapping the bike lane and parking with the reconfiguration.

Haha oh yeah that too. I’m not sure why I didn’t think of that.Critical_Mass wrote:Bollards with existing configuration would block the curbside parking. Hence swapping the bike lane and parking with the reconfiguration.

Re: Make Grand Grand
Anyone know what's going on in front of the NAIA building that apparently requires 2/3 of Grand to be blocked off?

Re: Make Grand Grand
Yes, I know it's frustrating to see traffic control go up and no one working. In this case, the plans didn't show an underground garage under NAIA -- did any of YOU know that? -- so everything had to shift south. Working through the design change with the city and then the contractor will be in and out quickly since that stop isn't super complicated (no level boarding, no snow melt system).
Grand will see quite a bit of activity over the summer in preparation for Prospect MAX: NB and SB Grand at 12th, NB and SB Grand at 11th, EB 12th at Grand, and WB 11th at Grand. It'll look great by the fall!

Re: Make Grand Grand
The state didn't mention one in 1983, but they do mention a water main break involving a full sized basement
https://dnr.mo.gov/shpo/nps-nr/84002568.pdf
Where would the entrance have been?
Regardless, it's a decent project and the end result will be worth it.

The Business Journal is reporting that NAIA is moving out of 1200 Grand, the former Bonfils Building. They are moving to the 12 Wyandotte Plaza office building. Copaken Brooks owns 1200 Grand.
I wish some restaurants would open in that building.

Oh my, a new tenant in 12 Wyandotte Plaza? That's nice. Maybe Executive Hills will be able to use the extra money to fix the elevators. God knows they spend enough of it power washing the bird crap off the sketchily installed loose tiles everywhere around that building.

Re: Make Grand Grand
On the TIO docket this week...
Reducing an appropriation in the amount of $275,000.00 in the Capital Improvements Sales Tax Fund; appropriating that amount to the Grand Boulevard Bike Improvements account; and authorizing Amendment No. 3 for Design Professional Services with Veenstra and Kimm, Inc. in the amount of $514,920.00 for a total contract amount of $1,116,973.00.
The projects being supplemented for design services are connections of Segment 2 of the Route 152 Trail into McHenry Park, design of three bridges for the Second Creek Greenway Trail, design services for Segment 3 of the Shoal Creek Trail, and conversion of the on street bike lanes on Grand Avenue from Truman Road south to Pershing Road as a separated two- way cycle trail and associated elements to implement the first phase of the "Making Grand Grand" plan adopted by the Parks Board.
