i doubt the hotel name will carry forward (based on other 21c properties), but it absolutely makes sense for the restaurant to be called the savoy grill.moderne wrote:This may be one of the most important rehab and restoration projects ever DT. We just do not have many large buildings from the 19th century that were not demolished. If only the old Board of Trade a block away was still standing(after more than half a century still a surface lot).. Its death really launched the historic preservation movement in KC. I hope they retain the Savoy name for both the hotel and restaurant so they can still claim a restaurant over a century old.

I checked the 21c website and they have KC listed as opening in 2017, and all construction here looks like it's a go for sure. They pride themselves on attention to detail and on the artistic nature of their properties. I am not sure about the name, but I am fully confident they will open an incredible property in the coming months.

Hotel Savoy is a great name! Why change a good thing. Plus, huge amount of history.

This thing needs a lot of work still...I wouldn't be surprised with a 4th quarter 2018 opening.

The last report was sometime in 2018. I'm guessing by the look of things it's more likely to be around December, 2018 than June, 2018.

Drove past the site today and noticed a lot of progress. All of the windows have been installed and the limestone(?) trim along the ground floor has been completed too.
The site was full of activity and they seem to be cranking on this. I would expect this project to open sometime before the end of this year.
As a property owner a few blocks away, I’m super pumped to see more life coming into the north part of the CBD. this should add a little bit of life to the quieter side of downtown.

I noticed this on the docket for the CPC tomorrow. Appears to be the lot directly to the east of Hotel Savoy?

I swear I read it on this board, but 21C put that lot up for sale. Presumably they will be guaranteed some parking spaces in whatever gets built. Someone also told me the hotel owns a surface lot on the west.hartliss wrote:I noticed this on the docket for the CPC tomorrow. Appears to be the lot directly to the east of Hotel Savoy?

I think there are a couple of errors in that notice. First it's in council district 4, not 2 and I'm fairly certain this is the SE corner of 9th/Wyandotte. This is the hypothetical building with a for certain parking deck.

Correct. The CPC agenda is incorrect. This is the Rick Powell project on the SE corner.smh wrote:I think there are a couple of errors in that notice. That SW corner was for sale, right? Maybe I just saw a for sale sign...

Sorry all, false alarm as noted above. I looked at the staff reports and it is Rick Powell's project.DaveKCMO wrote:Correct. The CPC agenda is incorrect. I think you're right that the SW corner is for sale. Could be a great project or series of projects on that lot. It is massive.DaveKCMO wrote:Correct. The CPC agenda is incorrect.
