NPSJ’s work would be instantly be 1000% better if they stopped putting hats on their buildings.

I thought 531 Grand looked great before the cornice went up. It had a nice boxy modern look. It's as if buildings are a Lego set and NSPJ simply needs to call the building complete one page earlier in the instruction booklet.chaglang wrote:NPSJ’s work would be instantly be 1000% better if they stopped putting hats on their buildings.

I don't think 531 Grand is that bad with the cornices (I still don't like them on ashland) and this project would be fine with a couple of the hats, but there are just too many. Switch it up people.

Not much happening here given a reported October start of construction.

Yes. I fear the "groundbreaking" ceremony might have been more so an advertisement to attract tenants. Perhaps they are waiting until more space is leased to actually start construction.

I assumed they had a tenant and was wondering if they had lost them. Guess not.

Re: OFFICIAL - 46 Penn Centre
Here is the relevant quote from the BizJournal article:
Perhaps something happened with the financing and they still need to sign up some more tenants.Normally, Block Real Estate Services does not begin construction on new office projects until at least 40 to 50 percent of the space has been leased. But Block said the financing package it has been able to put together will allow construction of 46 Penn Centre to begin with just two signed tenants — CrossFirst Bank and Block Real Estate Services, which will move its headquarters a block east from the Plaza Steppes Building to 25,000 square feet in its new office tower.
“In this particular case, we worked through an attractive structure for the financing that made it easier for us to move forward with a little less pre-leasing,” Block said.
Other factors that spurred the decision to move ahead included the estimated 22-month length of the construction and the high degree of interest from prospective tenants.
“We have a couple of really big deals that we’re talking to people about and a bunch of smaller deals,” Block said. “We’re actively engaged in heavily marketing the property at this point in time.”

Yeah! Then we can just demolish the whole plaza!! Who needs those dumb old Spanish towers anyway. We can build lots of 15 story buildings with giant garages facing the street. No more tile and plaster, I want to see cheap materials. Then we can all be so satisfied with how 'urban' our city has become.

Re: OFFICIAL - 46 Penn Centre
I have not seen any developer propose to tear down spanish towers or any part of the low rise retail district for that matter. All I have seen is the save the plaza people trying to stop anything and everything that surrounds the plaza.Midtownkid wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 1:44 pmYeah!
