Glass is very serious buisness and should be treated with respect and dignity.

Nothing says urban-hip like having ol' dead negroes from the past painted on a high-rise where only rich crackers live.

You're counting? Now that's some funny cracker $hit right there.StrangerThings wrote:... there are at least 7 people with signed leases who would be considered wealthy african americans currently.
I've known the guy personally for years. And he was never homeless.StrangerThings wrote:Oh, and the guy painting the murals was once a homeless african american who is now a highly respected mural artist.
He just kept getting kicked out of his baby-momma house a lot and has had to sleep in his car.
Next, I'm expecting you to say "Oh, and the landscape workers will all be Hispanic."

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
I mean yeah. There are class divisions in KC that have traditionally been along racial lines and supported by historically racist policies of redlining/blockbusting and lack of access to the capital and amenities of rich white Kansas Citians. And this were continuations of the shitty way African Americans and POC have had a raw deal in this country. And today we need to keep downtown from just becoming a playground for only rich, white folks while excluding those of us who work to make their enclaved life possible. I'd love to see more affordable housing near or in the loop to compliment the luxury apartment boom if the market ever allows it or a supply-side subsidy would be efficient enough to develop a set of affordable units.
But dude...you sound painfully white with all of your...uh...analysis? Capitalism isn't pretty and is worse when it reinforces racism but lazy cynicism and crappy analysis just makes the situation worse. Check yourself.

Talking middle class, saving $1500 on a car annually ($30 per week for gas) alone is another $125 monthly that can go to rent. And keep adding the other costs to this.
So a walkable job means affordable housing doesn't need to be *as* affordable as it would for someone living further out.

Sorry to butt in but yes, they announced an office building last October. They didn't announce it officially but the BizJournal reported on PwC and Rawlings being the main tenants of the office building. With it came new renderings. Here is the UrbanSTL thread on it. You will have to scroll a little bit on the page to view the new images. There is also a hotel planned for this.

The final product of the lettering is tacky.
Font is too bold making it appear blocky - not attractive.
Viewing from the south the letters are so large it makes the building look shorter and blockier.
