Do you have the addresses on where the candidates live?

Will someone be putting out a ballot with recommended choices closer to the election? I know like two names there so I'm just as likely to pick my favorite numbers.

That's not enough numbers with 7 seats to fill.flyingember wrote:1,2,6,9 are good people.WoodDraw wrote:Will someone be putting out a ballot with recommended choices closer to the election? I know like two names there so I'm just as likely to pick my favorite numbers.

Do the directors receive any monetary compensation for their work, if elected?

Does Circo even live in the district? She represented the 5th district. And Jan Marcason might have been the worst council person ever for the 4th district. Of course, Shields blows her away now. Bottom line, we need some more names.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe they are only reimbursed for their expenses related to their duties as directors. How stretchy the word "expenses" can get, I don't know.kcjak wrote:Do the directors receive any monetary compensation for their work, if elected?
Personally, I think I'd need at least a few weeks each to check out how the countries around the world have implemented street cars, but I'm just saying...

I wouldn't call her the worst.beautyfromashes wrote:Does Circo even live in the district? She represented the 5th district. And Jan Marcason might have been the worst council person ever for the 4th district. Of course, Shields blows her away now. Bottom line, we need some more names.
I was at a neighborhood meeting with both 4th reps (Marcason and Glover) at the time a few years back. Talking to them was appropriate before the event and I had an issue that wasn't being resolved by the city inspectors.
She didn't ignore me like Glover did and got me in touch with someone on her staff. He actually turned around and left as I was halfway through talking to him. That alone put her as not the worst to me.
He lost to Shields, which if you think Shields is the worst, think about what that says.

It doesn't say anything. I can think of one blaring example of an elected official that disproves your logic.

Hopefully everyone here will be OK with candidate 19, too.
I was at the courthouse today for potential jury duty (which didn't happen), and as the clerk's office was only one floor down...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
The best part is the claim that the mail-in election was too cumbersome for people who otherwise have voted in every election since X, but that the Director election is an undue burden because it would "require" them to vote in person.

So, if they win (not saying it is likely), wouldn't it have to also effectively eliminate all TDDs in the state and create total chaos (and force tax dollars from people who never voted in a TDD to support future TDD obligations)?

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
possibly, because very few TDD votes have been conducted at the ballot box. the citywide NKC TDD formation vote in 2008 is a notable exception. there's another tri-county sales-tax-only TDD that expanded US-36.bobbyhawks wrote:So, if they win (not saying it is likely), wouldn't it have to also effectively eliminate all TDDs in the state and create total chaos (and force tax dollars from people who never voted in a TDD to support future TDD obligations)?
