If there's a slow news cycle, why not just repackage what's already available?

No new news for nerds on a development board maybe.KCPowercat wrote:Does it seem to me there have been a lot of these stories lately that have no new info on them?

they were awaiting the alley vacation before starting serious work. now that it's a done deal, i'd expect to see activity soon. pretty sure they have their financing lined up.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
They received a vacation of that alley on 8/24 it looks like. Hopefully that means they are able to break ground soon.KCDowntown wrote:I've been following the permits on KIVA for this property and everything went quiet in the middle of August. A lot of their permits were getting denied on their building plan review and most of the issues seemed contingent on an alley being vacated. Hopefully they just have to have N/S alley in the middle of the block vacated for things to continue. You'd think with the city getting so good at vacating streets that this would be a breeze.JBmidtown wrote:Not to go off on too much of a tangent but when exactly is City Club apartments supposed to break ground? I thought financing was lined up and they were looking at a fall groundbreaking.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Exactly, it seems that they have cleared all the hurdles (incentives, alley vacation, etc). Not sure why they are waiting. I worry about the former hotel building. Two weekends ago there was another small fire just inside the front doors that was started by a squatter in the building. The fire-starter actually put out the small blaze himself, and then KCPD finally broke a window and got the person out of the building. I think the squatter wanted out but wasn't able to figure out how. No telling how many people are living in that thing. I've witnessed a person enter the building thru a window on the third floor (accessed from the roof of the neighboring building).kboish wrote:They received a vacation of that alley on 8/24 it looks like. I'm very excited for this project. Big, dense project right in an area that is an eyesore. Plus, it begins the march eastward to connect to the vibrancy in east Xroads.

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)
squatter started a fire last night in the two-story building next to the midwest hotel (and then again early this morning, which the media hasn't reported):

second or third time this year, depending on who you talk to. supposedly they're ready to start development and have been delayed by environmental work for the underground parking.

Finally, some action on this. Pre-Demolition permits were issued for the buildings going down on this block on the 30th...

Squatter fire #4 today. I'm told we're weeks away from construction start.
