The sad, sad legacy of Lamar Hunt

Post by KCPowercat »

I'm all for foundly remembering Mr. Kauffman but you can dig up stuff on him as well....or his kids like PPA is so fond of doing on Lamar.

Mr. Hunt spent plenty on keep the Chiefs here in the 70's & 80's...no way he made much cash back then on these teams.

It just came to me what might be happening here. Clark Hunt. He could very well be puppeting his pops out there and telling him he needs to do this or that. Lamar lost money on the Chiefs back in the day and has invested in businesses and attractions here in the KC area....now that he's getting older his son is getting more power and this might be what we are seeing.

Bring it, KCP. Let's see what you got. I welcome any truth any person brings.
Mr. Hunt spent plenty on keep the Chiefs here in the 70's & 80's...no way he made much cash back then on these teams.
The NFL tele deal was in place since the 60s, he wasn't losing money. He had a taxpayer-built stadium that whole time period anyway.

That's not what's happening. Lamar has a history of unadulterated greed, so this is not out-of-step for the man. Quit defending this guy.

Not to defend Hunt, but he could be in a situation of "asset rich, cash poor". The paper stated he built soccer stadiums in Columbus and Dallas. Did he build them or did the local government? If he did build the stadiums he might be in a cash poor situation.
I may be right.  I may be wrong.  But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

I don't have the energy to pour through library newspaper articles to find things (all of Ewings doing would be before internet search engines) nor do I care to drag the man through the mud like you tend to do.

You can bet they are there for somebody to find. You don't build a drug empire out of the back of your truck without stepping on a few backs.

I am fascinated with pitt's obsession with Lamar Hunts greed!
I must admit, I have always thought, growing up here and loving the Chiefs, that the man was a great contributor to the community, even though he is from Dallas...I just took what the "GAYCEE" Star had dished out to me over the years, never imagining such a diabolical plot right here in 'river city'.

I just assumed the greed-meister was across the parking lot from Arrowhead. Learn somethin' new every day 'round here!

Is it true that the Kansas City Chiefs are really a Texas corporation? I have heard this, but I don't know if it's true or not. If it's true...wouln't it show Lamar's TRUE colors? Isn't he suppose to love Kansas City? (I really am asking...not trying to make a point!) :D

Ironic you use the word "unhealthy" to describe a poster.

What word do you use on a man obsessed with money at all costs to his private life and public reputation? I'm interested to hear your opinion.

Um, no - he's never "loved" KC and anyone who ever suggested that should be committed to an insane asylum.

Not only was New Orleans his first choice (he couldn't get a stadium deal worked out), but he actually wanted to keep the name "Texans" when he moved to KC.

Steadman and Bartle talked the nutty one out of that PR stroke of genius.

Most of us make business decisions everyday.  Perhaps opting to change cleaning services or accountants.  Hunt's business dealings are much larger than anything 99% of us will ever deal with.  KC was/is merely a vendor to what he's manufacturing (sports entertainment).  Get over it.

Don't be.  It's his nature.  He's been this way his whole life, and will not change in the last 19 months he's got remaining.

Wow.  A bit spooky, as he keeled over 24 months later.

There may have been a "Dead Pool" going on with all the high rollers on this chat board.  I of course would never participate but you just never know, after Clint popularized the concept in the 80s?
