just a reminder that the entire bus system will be free to ride on friday, may 6. no reason to try and park downtown, especially during the daytime when demand is highest.

We've commandeered an apartment in the River Market for the weekend. Lost weekend to ensue.

The Star and news media need to point that out if they haven't already.DaveKCMO wrote:just a reminder that the entire bus system will be free to ride on friday, may 6. no reason to try and park downtown, especially during the daytime when demand is highest.

The fact that they used the term hobo creates perfect visual picture of the type of person who wrote itEon Blue wrote:"The buses are only free to keep the hoboes off the streetcar!"

Eh, wife and I are going to mozzy on down to 156th and Quivera and see what's new down there.
Of course we're going to be down there. I'm riding that damn streetcar all night. I've even convinced the wife to take the Max down to the crossroads!

We'll be there Friday and Saturday. Trying to figure the odds of actually getting on the thing Friday, I expect lots of full trains. My plan is to walk the entire length of the route!

We'll be doing typical Sat morning shopping/breakfast in City Market. Usually take MAX all the way down but will take to Union Station and transfer. It actually might be faster given how much MAX zigzags through downtown.

transfers at union station aren't timed with MAX, so your wait time (which will vary) might gobble up the travel time savings.earthling wrote:We'll be doing typical Sat morning shopping/breakfast in City Market. of course, it wasn't design to work that way (but it could be).
you'll want the transfer because of the ride quality.

Re: Downtown Streetcar Opening Day
At least there is potential wait time could be short for streetcar. Will it run every 10min Sat mornings or is it 'up to 18'?

Re: Downtown Streetcar Opening Day
it's supposed to be every 12 minutes all day saturday. 18 is only for sundays/holidays (and a candidate for improvement, if demand is there).earthling wrote:At least there is potential wait time could be short for streetcar. Will it run every 10min Sat mornings or is it 'up to 18'?

I'm looking forward to riding the Urbos 100 having already rode the Urbos 70 running in a hybrid streetcar- and light rail-style system.
