Re: New Convention Hotel
Besides sticking the petitioners with court costs, there is a legal framework, once most legal issues have been ruled on, to punish people/lawyers who try to repeatedly sue based on settled law.

CFRG is stating today that it will not appeal the decision to keep the convention hotel off the ballot.

I am circulating a petition to let the voters decide what you can wonder about.

New petition idea..... # of signatures tied to city population, not votes in last mayoral election.

some percentage of the number of registered voters OR some percentage of the last mayoral election, whichever is higher.KCPowercat wrote:New petition idea..... # of signatures tied to city population, not votes in last mayoral election.
AND for citywide items throw in a certain percentage of all council districts.
Like you must have a minimum of 10% of signatures in each district. So you may get half from 3rd and then you need to cover the rest of the city evenly.

Do we have a time frame for when this project will begin?

Looking forward to this project taking off. Really need that Embassy Suites (Old Federal Reserve) to come to life!

Re: New Convention Hotel
That Embassy Suites in the former Federal Reserve building seems to be taking forever to get going. It's sort of like the Power & Light tower renovation--that seemed to take forever to get off the ground. Especially when one looks at the Pickwick Hotel project, which appears to be moving faster, and arguably, is a harder project to deal with.

I wonder what the market would be in Kansas City for a mixed-use hotel with apartments that offered concierge services and things like room-service and housekeeping to apartment residents from the hotel? I know in some bigger cities there are people that live in hotels permanently for this reason.

Re: New Convention Hotel
My apartment at Aqua at Lake-shore East in Chicago had shared amenities for Hotel Guests and the Apartment and Condo Dwellers. The Hotel had its own main entrance, while the apartments and condos had their own side entrance. The Radisson Blu occupies the lower floors, followed by the apartments and then condos on top. The CVS in the retail space on the ground floor was very convenient for hotels guests as well as people living in the Building. I think a mixed use tower like this would be a bit more complex then anything a developer from KC is usually accustomed too.FangKC wrote:I wonder what the market would be in Kansas City for a mixed-use hotel with apartments that offered concierge services and things like room-service and housekeeping to apartment residents from the hotel?
